15、standing short story writer. She was born in Wellington, New Zealand in 1888. She studied at Queens College, London, where she met John Middleton Murry, a famous critic, whom she later married. After years of ill-health and struggle as a freelance writer and reviewer, she achieved success with Bliss

16、 and Other Stories (1920) and The Garden Party (1922). Just as she won world fame, however, her health grew worse. She died of tuberculosis in 1923.A D i l lPickle4245 She was a prominent modernist writer of short fiction who wrote under the pen name of Katherine Mansfield. When she was 19 Mansfield

17、 left New Zealand and settled in the United Kingdom, where she became friends with modernist writers such as D.H. Lawrence and Virginia Woolf.
