12、 1 introduction simple drawing which is the image with the line to express the people, animals and scenery, characterizes with easy-to-operate and easy-to-use. a few simple pictures can show a kind of an animal, a person, an action or a situation, etc. in the teaching of english in primary

13、 schools, simple drawing is used to save time and is convenient and flexible to use. it can not only combine the content of courses organically, and also can attract the attention of students to be interested in learning, to arouse the students' inspiration, thought and imagination, and to incre

14、ase the interest of knowledge. as a teaching auxiliary method, simple drawing can teach language, even can play more importantly than a demonstration, chart, or multimedia teaching method. 2. simple drawing2.1. the definition of simple drawing simple drawing is using concise line and strokes to desc

15、ribe modeling and to simplify communicates. and it is not only a practical strong popular art form, but it also a means to give a person with material and spirit of aesthetic enjoyment. we can use a brief summary and to do it. simple drawing is the visual language which is widely applied by the teac

16、hers in various branches teaching. to master the skills and knowledge of simple drawing is one of the necessary backgrounds. generally speaking, simple drawing is a drawing through the mesh, memory and writing to extract the main characteristics as typical and prominent, with the superficial and sty

17、lized forms and concise style to show generality, erkanntheit and schematic.2.2 the characteristics of simple drawing the characteristic of the brush stroke is simple, lively and vivid. we only draw roughly, not with the details of the picture. the psychology studies show that mankinds sense of

18、 vision and hearing are the media in absorbing the knowledge and catching the information. (among them the sense of vision occupies83%, the sense of hearing occupies 11 %.) therefore the vision is extremely important in mankind obtaining the knowledge. here is an example: draw many circles on the bl

19、ackboard, then, ask students: what are they like?(the students may answer eggs, apples, balls, balloons and so on, which can make the students enlarge their thought.) can you make up for the rest part? (students come up to draw the rest part and finish them.)then, teacher teaches the key words, phra

20、ses, and sentences by the drawing.this kind of lead-in method is vivid and full of imagination, which can change the lifeless text into vivid and brisk contents and present them in front of the students. it will deepen students impression and is helpful for the students to remember. at the same time

21、, the match of text and the pictures can make the classroom atmosphere seem to be lively and also making the english classroom increase the arts magic power.2.2.1. changing abstraction to image the traditional teaching mode, for example, the superficial meaning is that teachers are in the text inter

22、pretation, or read aloud with tape. besides, this teaching mode is monotonous and boring in the process of following the repeater, so that the pupils feel fatigue. however, in order to arouse the pupils' various senses of excitability and let the pupils learn in an active condition, the aimple d

23、rawing can be used through a sketch to delineate visually different things of the image and characters of the movements, forms and expressions. although teachers corresponding actions can also show a certain condition to eliminate students one-way fatigue senses, the simple drawi

24、ng sometimes can be more pictorial and easily allow pupils to accept.2.2.2. combining logicality with image thinking in the traditional english teaching, the teachers explain sounds, forms and meanings, and mainly through logical thinking form to make pupils produce the associations. yet,

25、simple drawing can express the image one-off, and provide very lively visual and image teaching. the pupils can directly use image thinking to study. the simple pictures enable the pupil to produce the strength of association, increase the density of thinking through the visual image of pupils to th

26、e cerebral cortex, and help the teacher's explanation.2.2.3. changing isolated image into coherent picture wall maps, as a kind of teaching method, can help pupils to understand the text. however, a wall map is fixed and a simple drawing is different. and the map can be made by teachers to

27、conceive, and to compile corresponding picture in the original picture to add new contents. the vision and audition of pupil by simple drawing can continually add more activities. because of simple drawing, pupils can master the language from simple to complex to learn much new knowledge and re

28、view the old knowledge, which greatly increase the consistency and interest of english.2.3. the function of the simple drawing the application of stick figures can make our language material of foreign teaching interesting, and make the teaching method flexible. in a vivid class, students' learn

29、ing interest increase and motivation will increase. thus, students will take part in the activity and change from passive into initiative. at the same time, the application of stick figures can stimulate the brain's vision system, develop the visual thinking, so as to deepen the memory and promo

30、te the active sense. stick figures can create the sense of new language material. the proper application of stick figures makes the teaching process nature, thus the better teaching result will come up. this ways can attract students great interests, and keep students thinking consistent with the te

31、aching process, the effect is nature and vivid. although it spends a little more time, the students attention are attracted and the new words can be connected with concrete facial features, students are impressed deeply and will not forget for a long time.3. the advantages of using simple drawings w

32、hat is different about teaching a foreign language to children, in contrast to adults? some differences are obvious: children are often more enthusiastic and lively as learners. they will have a go at an activity even when they dont quite understand why or how (lynne cameron, 2001).however, they als

33、o lose interest more quickly and are less able to keep themselves motivated on tasks they find difficult. so teachers should pay more attention to aspirate their interest. successful vocabulary learning and activities are those that are tuned to the learning needs of pupils, rather than to the deman

34、ds of the next text-book unit (ruth gairns and stuart redman, 2002). it is really a challenge for teachers to choose a due way to present vocabulary to young learners more effectively. i have seen too many classrooms where learners are enjoying themselves on intellectually undemanding tasks but fail

35、ing to learn as much as they might. the time available in busy school timetables for language teaching is too short to waste on activities that are fun but do not maximize learning (schmitt norbert 1997). teacher need to offer a creative and attractive presentation for students to learn easily.( rea

36、l objects, pictures, etc). simple drawing is one of the most effective methods in vocabulary teaching.there are many advantages of simple drawing teaching, such as: this thesis focuses on the application of simple drawing to teach english words and grammar to junior school students. simple drawing i

37、s an efficient teaching method which will improve our countrys english teaching level. 3.1. simple drawing is simple and easy to be presented by teachers.in english vocabulary teaching, the way of using a brief picture can provoke students' interested in receiving language knowledge and help tea

38、chers organize communicative activities of language. for example, when an english teacher wants to make a difference between "sad" and "happy", he or she may draw two brief pictures on the blackboard. they are as follows: sad, happy. a teacher may explain the two vocabularies whi

39、le he or she is pointing at the two brief pictures. doing it can make students follow their teacher and connect vocabularies with pictures. so, students will easily remember those vocabularies. 3.2. simple drawing made the children interested in english learningfirstly, it is undoubted that writing

40、on the blackboard which contains many interesting drawings can make the students interest been aroused and then classroom atmosphere is much more active. and just as we known, interest is the best teacher in learning, so it is functional. secondly, we know that a concrete object can give students a

41、much better memory than an abstract letters so it can make students keep the knowledge in their mind for a longer time. 3.3. attracting students attention as the students of primary school, they cant control themselves very well, the design of lead-in part is especially the key point that help them

42、self-control. the meaning of teaching is to enlighten students to participate in the classroom teaching.3.4. students learn to draw simple drawing to remember vocabulary students draw the simple drawing and mark the vocabularies meaning under the pictures, which will promote their imagination, think

43、ingness, creativeness and observation. in order to make students abilities up to the highest degree, teachers should give more chance to students draw themselves. from the point of mine, they will remember mostly vocabulary efficiently. meanwhile, it can decrease the teachers pressure or anxious. wh

47、ir minds, and it can also make the children remember them correctly.4.2. giving example by using the simple drawing the teacher has made every time periods simplified into seven characteristic periods of time .the imagined time clock can show the different time, in the daytime, the time clock are sh

48、own by the simple drawings of sun while as in the night the time clock will be shown by the simple drawing of moon in this way it is very convenient for student to keep them in their mind and to arouse the students interest in big degree. at the same time it can help the student to create a kind fee

49、ling immediately. then the students imagination will get a full using. make them have a feeling that small suns which are stretching are themselves on half of six in morning. after a tiring day on the time of half to ten, the small moon which is sleeping sweetly is themselves.then the author present
