Important and Difficult points: How to use the modals for giving people advice correctly.Teaching Procedures:1. Play a video about seeing the doctor. And students should answer the questions: Whats wrong with Tom?What did the doctor say to him?Summarize the students answers to lead into the teaching aim: giving advice to help others solve problems. We can use the modals “should, could, shouldnt” to make suggestions.2.play a game:Introduction: in this game, students will work like a doctor, trying to give right advice to the “patients”. Directions: Ask 4 students to act 4 different situations: catch a cold; have a bad sleep; have a sore throat ; want to be stronger and taller. Divide other students into groups of two . Each group can choose a “patient” to treat by drawing lots. One person act the doctor to give advice, the other act the assistant of the doctor to write down the doctors advice.Ask some different pairs to show their advice , write down useful suggestions on the Bb.Having a cold: a. You should get an injection. b. you should take some medicine. C. you should drink more water.d. you should have a good rest. e. you shouldnt take too much e_ercise.Having a bad sleep :a. you should go to bed earlier.b. you could drink a glass of milk before going to bed.Having a sore throat:a. you could drink some tea with honey.b. you shouldnt speak loudly.If you want to be stronger and taller:a. You should eat more healthy food .b. You should drink more milk every day.c. You should take more e_ercise every day .d. You should have enough sleep.e. You shouldnt eat junk food.f. You shouldnt drink too much cola. 3. Talking about Grammar Discussion:look at the sentences on the blackboard. If we want to help people solve the problems, we usually give them some advice. Modals can be used to give advice and suggestions in English., such as should, could, shouldnt , couldnt .Guide students to work out the rules of the modals a. Positive: should /could + do b. Negative: shouldnt /couldnt + do c. Question: should/could+ 主语+ do? 4.students work in pairs.Show some pictures : a. should; read again b. shouldnt; too much; watch TV for 3 hours c. shouldnt make a call; driveStudents make some suggestions according to the situations in the picture, using the giving words . then ask some pairs to present their advice.a. You could read it again.b. They have watched TV for 3 hours, they shouldnt watch too much TV.c. She shouldnt make a call when shes driving.Check the answers.5. Practice:Show a letter: Tom asks for advice on learning English. Teacher read the letter for students. Then requires students to write their advice to Tom on a piece of paper.Ask several students to read their advice . write down good ones on Bb.6.summing up the rules of the Modals, and when we should use them.8.Consolidation: Do some e_ercise on the paper:Complete the sentences with right modals.Check the answers .Summ
