(1) Now its time for our weekly competition. Last weeks prize of two theatre tickets was won by Bill Martins. Congratulations, Bill! I hope you have r_1_ your tickets by now. This week we are offering a classical (经典的) CD to the first listener who can name the piece of music and the person who wrote it. I will play the piece of music in a few minutes, but b_2_ I do, you need to get a pencil and a piece of paper, as Im going to give you some help which should make your job a little e_3_. Listen carefully and you might be this weeks lucky winner. First: Although the person who wrote the music was born in Italy, he spent most of his life in Spain. Second: There is also a famous play. It has the s_4_ title as the music and it is usually performed in the open air in the summer. When this piece of music was first performed, many audiences (听众) couldnt keep l_5_. They got up and walked out. They thought the music was terrible and said it was a waste of their money. The last point: Part of his music has been used for an ad. Im sure when you hear the music, you will know what the ad is for. Im not going to tell you what p_6_ it is, because that would almost give you the answer! So, thesere the things to remember. If you can g_7_ us the answer, please ring 0018973266. Dont forget the telephone number. And the music is coming up now. Hope you will enjoy it!1. _ 2. _ 3. _ 4. _5. _ 6. _ 7. _(2)Whenever disasters (灾难) happen, there are plenty of sad stories. But sometimes these stories have surprising endings. Once a hurricane (飓风) hit where Shirley and her parents lived. Their house seemed to be pulled down. They went out of the house quickly. N_1_ but Shirley noticed Doggy, her pet dog, go missing. At that moment, Shirleys father got badly hurt when he tried to s_2_ flying sticks from hitting Shirley. All her family were so busy taking care of her father and getting ready to move away that they had no t_3_ to look for Doggy. When they set off a safer place 10 kilometres away from home, Doggy didnt still show up. Shirley thought she lost her Doggy f_4_. Several weeks later, Shirley looked at the photo of Doggy on the desk. How she missed him! It was raining heavily outside. Suddenly, she heard a loud n_5_. She was sure it wasnt the rain. It was a bark. She opened the door q_6_ and couldnt believe her eyes. It was Doggy standing and barking in the rain. As soon as he saw Shirley, he ran to her. He looked all wet and weak. How could he find the new house? Where had he been these days? It was a miracle (奇迹).People usually say dogs and cats are good at f_7_ their way home by using their sense of smell. But that doesnt explain how Doggy came to the new house. “I wish he could talk,” said Shirley.1. _ 2. _ 3. _ 4. _5. _ 6. _ 7. _(3)Once, a circle lost a piece of its own. The circle wanted to be whole, so it went around looking for its missing piece. But it was incomplete, so it could only roll very slowly. It enjoyed the flowers and the sunshine a_1_ the way. It talked with worms (虫). It found lots of different pieces, but n_2_ of them fit. So it left them all by the side of the road and kept on looking for the missing piece. Then one day the circle found a piece that fit perfectly. The circle put the missing piece into i_3_. It could be whole with nothing missing. It was so happy and began to roll. Now that it was a perfect circle, it could roll very fast, too fast to see flowers or talk to worms. It r_4_ how different the world was when it rolled so quickly. It felt so sad that it stopped, left its found piece by the side of the road and rolled away slowly.Sometimes we are perfect when we l_5_ something. A man who has everything is a poor man in some ways. He will never have hopes, d_6_ or something better. He will never know someone loves him or someone is giving him something he has always wanted or never had.We couldnt be perfect, but we must be brave enough to love, strong enough to forgive (宽恕), kind enough to s_7_ happiness with others and clever enough to know there is enough love around us and then we can always live a wonderful life.1. _ 2. _ 3. _ 4. _5. _ 6. _ 7. _(4)We all have days when we are down, tired and unhappy. Thats OK. You need days like this, or how would you know you are happy? Youll enjoy your good days even m_1_ when you have a few bad days. Even if sadness is a part of life, lets try to make it small. Here are a few simple ways to help you feel better when you are feeling sad.1. Stand up s_2_ and this helps your energy flow. When your energy is flowing freely, you can flow too.2. Smile! Its easy to do and have good r_3_. This way cannot only leave you in a good mood (心情) but also bring others a good mood.3. Listen to music. It must be your favourite music. Some kinds of music work better than others, so try and find out what k_4_ of music works the best for you.4. Take some “me” time. You can findp_5_ in reading a book, watching a sunrise or having a hot bath, or something like that.5. Exercise. Even something as simple as taking a walk will get your blood flowing. It is a great way to c_6_ your mind of anything that makes you sad. These ways will cheer you up when you are down, but dont just use them when you are sad. Try and practise them every day to make them a habit. You will be s_7_ to learn that these simple ways will keep your sadness away. But if you are in a deep depression (沮丧), go to see a doctor.1. _ 2. _ 3. _ 4. _5. _ 6. _ 7. _(5)Habit is an action that we have performed so often that it becomes something that we do almost without thinking. Some of them are thought to be bad habits. People s_1_ countless hours and dollars each year trying to get rid of these bad habits but often fail. Why? Changing is hard work and there is no shortcut (捷径) to achieve it. H_2_, there is still some advice for you to follow.First, look at why you do it. In other words, whats the result of doing this thing? If your bad habit is shouting at people when you are u_3_ or under pressure, what do you get from it? It may make you feel a little better for the moment. Or maybe you have a bad habit of leaving your homework undone. The result could be that you get more time to spend on the Internet!Next, take a look on the o_4_ hand. What are you losing because of your habit? Shouting at other people is a bad habit because it makes people a_5_ you feel bad and unhappy. Leaving your homework undone is a bad habit because you may be punished by your t_6_. Having more Internet time means that you are losing the chance to learn the things that you need to learn. When you think that way, youll find that its not wise to keep your bad habits! Now it is time to make a d_7_. What will you choose? Im sure you will choose to do what you think is more important.1. _ 2. _ 3. _ 4. _5. _ 6. _ 7. _(6)Babies sleep about eighteen hours a day. Mrs Thatcher and Napoleon both said they only needed to sleep for three or four hours a night. No one can live w_1_ sleep. But how much do we really need? The research by the National Sleep Foundation in Washington says that we all need eight hours sleep every night. Scientists have found that people who sleep for less than six and a half hours a night are m_2_ often ill than people who sleep for eight hours. Working without enough sleep also increases the chance of s_3_ illness. “Workaholics (工作狂)” who sleep for less than five hours often die young, and do less well at work. The scientists found that adults usually sleep for seven hours a night, with 32% sleeping less than six hours. It also says that the idea that we need less sleep as we get o_4_ is completely untrue. “People have no idea how important sleep is to their lives,” Dr Thomas Roth, director of the Foundation says, “Good h_5_ needs good sleep.”“But not too much of it,” says Professor Jim Horne of Loughborough University, “Sleep
