c h i n e s ea b s t r a c t 中文摘要 本文旨在研究美国华人新移民作家群这个新课题，以边缘知识分子的理论为指 导、以文学文本分析为最终落脚点，试图对美国华人新移民作家的辩护及其作品做出 分析与评价。伴随全球化的趋势，国际文坛上逐渐出现了中国血统作家用外语进行创 作的文学新局面，用英语创作的美国华人新移民作家成就最为显著；哈金，裘小龙， 闵安琪，李翊云，王屏，郑念，巫宁坤等作为代表，其作品屡次斩获美国文学大奖， 闯入西方文学主流。新移民作品的主题多样，或对历史记忆在进行描述与创作，或对 移民经验进行书写，或对中国的语言和文化进行反观。然而这些作品在国内学术界却 从主题上和艺术性上都受到诸多质疑。对其创作产生的争议，作家通过各种途径进行 辩护。根据赛义德的知识分子理论和哈金对移民作家生存状况的阐释，新移民作家都 属于边缘的知识分子，这为研究作家的辩护提供了理论参考。从赛义德对边缘知识分 子的反权威性和边缘性的阐释，以及哈金对移居作家的创作困境的研究中可以解读美 国华人新移民作家的文学心态，理解作家的创作意识与作品内容之间的关系，能进一 步理解作家为其作品辩护的问题。这些辩护可从对已有经验的利用，创作主题，文化 与语言的选择等方面进行概括。以作家的辩护为参照解读其代表作品，本论文分析发
