摘要 摘要 韩礼德( 1 9 7 8 ：1 3 5 ) 认为语篇就是语义单位。在语义层中有概念功能，入 际功能和语篇功能，这是理解意义的生成的基础。本论文主要是介绍语义层的 人际功能。而对于人际功能的分析主要是集中在小旬一表达意义的基本单位， 也就是以小句为基本单位研究人际功能的两个体现形式：语气和情态。 本文的研究目的是找出人际功能在新闻英语的两个次语体一英语新闻报 道和社论一中的不同实现方式。 本文除绪论和结论部分之外。共有三章。第一章主要是介绍了对新闻语篇 进行过分析的有关理论，包括批评语言学和批评语篇分析。同时还介绍了两位 语言学家对新闻语篇所作的研究。此外也对评价理论作了介绍。并在这章末尾 介绍了传统语言学家对语气和情态的研究，与第二章韩礼德的观点形成对比。 第二章详细介绍了本文的理论框架，即韩礼德对人际功能的研究。本章分 为两大部分，分别对语气和情态进行详细的阐述。 第三章是分析部分，主要是在第二章的理论框架下对新闻报道和社论中人 际功能的不同实现方式进行对比分析。 在分析中发现这两种次语体在人际功能的实现方式上既有共同点又有不同 点。不同点体现在四个方面：语气的多样性、引语的使用、情态的使用和情态 隐喻的使用。共同点是情态动词在两个次语体中的不同量值的分布比例几乎一 样。通过分析我们可以得出这样的结论，英语新闻报道并不像它所声称的那样
