Unit3 What were you doing when the UFO arrived?一、 教案背景1、面向学生:八年级学生2、学科:英语3、学时:1课时4、教学准备:(1)教师准备通过上网,利用百度搜索外星人的照片、查阅UFO的资料,准备课本教学挂图,准备录音机、磁带。(2)学生准备通过百度搜索并观看影片E.T.外星人,用英文简短地描述剧情内容。二、 教材分析What were you doing when the UFO arrived?是新目标英语(Go for it)八年级下册第三单元。本单元谈论的话题是“谈论过去的事情”,围绕这一话题设计了相关的语言情景。本单元分五个课时完成,此教案(Section A 1a-2c)为第一课时,通过UFO这个学生感兴趣的话题,引出本单元重点语法过去进行时,学习了when和while引导的时间状语从句。通过本节课的学习,使学生能用过去进行时态叙述过去发生的事情,提高学生的口语表达能力,激发了学生热爱科学、热爱生活、探索未来的热情。三、 教学重、难点教学重点:1、掌握重点单词:UFO,bathroom,kitchen,barber, cut,land, alien, buy(bought), when/while, take off2、掌握重点句型:What were you doing when the UFO arrived?I was standing in front of the library.While the boy was walking down the street, the UFO landed.The boy was walking down the street when the UFO landed.教学难点:1、过去进行时的定义、构成结构以及用法2、When 和while的区别四、教学方法1、 任务型教学法2、 情景教学法3、 小组合作教学法五、教学过程Step1 Leading in1. Ask students to look at the teaching chart of 1a, ask questions about it.T: What can you see in the picture?Ss: UFO, an alien, tall buildings, some people ( Introduce some information about UFO)UFO全称为不明飞行物,也称飞碟(unidentified flying object,简称UFO)是指不明来历、不明空间、不明结构、不明性质,但又漂浮、飞行在空中的物体。一些人相信它是来自其他行星的太空船,有些人则认为UFO属于自然现象。20世纪40年代开始,美国上空发现碟状飞行物,当时称为“飞碟,这是当代对不明飞行物的兴趣的开端,后来人们着眼于世界各地的不明飞行物报告,但至今尚未发现确实可信的证据。许多不明飞行物照片经专家鉴定为骗局,有的则被认为是球状闪电,但始终有部分发现根据现存科学知识无法解释。1952年美国新泽西州所拍摄的不明飞行物T: Can you guess what they were doing when the UFO arrived?S1: She was cooking.S2: He was taking a bath (Write the sentences on the blackboard)2. Pause after every sentence and ask students to translate each sentence into Chinese.5. Play the recording without pausing.Step4 Pairwork Section A 1c1. Ask two students to read the sample dialogue to the class.2. Ask students to work in pairs. Move around the classroom and offer some help when needed.3. Ask some pairs to present their dialogue to the class.4. Summarize the use of the Past Continuous tense. 过去进行时定义表示在过去某一时刻或某一段时间内正在进行的动作。构成结构:肯定形式:主语+was/were +doing否定形式:主语+was not(wasnt)/were not(werent)+doing疑问形式: was/were+主语+ doingStep5 Listening (2a-2b)1. Ask students to look at the picture and talk about it.2. Let five students read the five sentences and translate them into Chinese.3. Play the recording twice. Let the students number the statements in the order.4. Correct the answers.5. Play the recording again and ask students to write “when” or“while” on each line.6. Correct the answers.7. Play the recording the fourth times. Pause after every sentence and ask students to translate each sentence into Chinese. Make sure the students understand the meaning of the listening material.8. Play the recording without pausing.Step6 Practice (2c)1. Point to the picture. Ask students to say what each person is doing.2. Ask students to work in small groups.3. Let some groups present their dialogue to the class.Step7 Grammar Focus1. Ask students to read the four sentences in the box.2.Through the observation, let students say the differences between“when”and“while”.3.The teacher sums up the differences between“when”and“while”.when和while引导的时间状语从句的区别:when引导的时间状语从句中,动词可以是延续性动词也可以是非延续性动词;While引导的时间状语从句中,动词必须是延续性动词。when引导的时间状语从句中,主句和从句的动作可以同时发生,也可以先后发生; while引导的时间状语从句中,主句和从句的动作要同时发生。 有时when 和while可以互换。Step8 Summing up1. Explain the use of the Past Continuous tense.2. Review the differences between“when”and“while”.Step9 Homework1. Write an article according to the picture in 2c using Past Continuous tense.2. Preview 3a.六、教学反思互联网的应用在现代英语教学中,起着越来越重要的作用。课前布置任务,使学生通过百度观看电影E.T.外星人,搜索有关UFO、外星人的资料,使学生对外星人有了更深层次的了解,充分调动了学生的学习兴趣,为学生积极参与课堂教学活动奠定了基础。导入中的图片展示使课本的内容以生动的形象呈现在学生面前,课文重点通过
