Whenthelocalsugarbeetindustrycollapsedin1902,theIsseibegantoleaselandfrom

dividedbetweenlaborersandlandowners.TheIsseibegantooperatefarms,theybegan
tomarryandstartfamilies,forminganestablishedJapaneseAmericancommunity.
