TheNewCurriculumStandardsemphasizethecultivationofstudents'prehensivelanguageapplicationability,includinglanguageknowledge,languageskills,learningstrategies,culturalawareness,andemotionalattitudes.Thislesson,withthethemeof"Musicpreferences,"aimstohelpstudentsuseEnglishtoexpresstheirpreferencesformusicinpracticalsituationsthroughvariouslistening,speaking,reading,andwritingactivities,whichisinlinewiththerequirementsoftheNewCurriculumStandards.
II.AnalysisofTeachingMaterials

PositionandRoleofTeachingMaterials
ThislessonisfromUnit9SectionA.Itfocusesonmusicpreferences.Thetextbookguidesstudentstolearnanduserelevantvocabularyandsentencepatternstoexpresspersonalmusicpreferencesthroughdialogues,pictures,andexercises.
Thissectionnotonlyreinforcesandexpandsthevocabularyandsentencepatternslearnedinpreviousunitsbutalsolaysthefoundationforthestudyofcultureandartinsubsequentunits.
