edriskofdevelopingopportunisticinfections(OIs),whichareinfectionsthatoccurmorefrequentlyoraremoresevereinpeoplewithweakenedimmunesystemsManagingOIsinvolvespreventing,diagnosing,andtreatingtheseinfectionsManagingOpportunisticEffectsTreatingCoexistingConditionsPeoplewithHIVmayalsohavecoexistingconditions,suchashepatitisortuberculosis,whichneedtobetreatedconcurrentlywithHIVProvidingSupportingCareSupportingcare,suchasnutritionalsupport,paymanagement,andpsychologicalcounseling,canhelppeoplewithHIVcoveragewiththephysicalandemotionaleffectsofthediseaseManagingOpportunisticEffectsIntegratedApproachesComprehensivetherapyforHIV/AIDSofteninvolvesintegratedapproachesthatcombineconventionalmedicaltreatmentswithcompleteandalternativetherapies(CAM)ComprehensiveTherapyComprehensivetherapies,suchasacquisition,mass,andyoga,canhelprelievesymptomsandimprovequalityoflifeforpeoplewithHIV/AIDSComprehensiveandAlternativeTherapyAlternativeTherapyAlternativetherapies,suchasglobalmedicineandhomeopathy,mayalsobeusedtotreatHIV/AIDS,althoughtheireffectivenesshasnotbeenfullyestablishedbyscientificresearchItisimportanttoconsultwithahealthcareproviderbeforeusinganyalternativetherapiesComprehensiveandAlternativeTherapy06AdaptingtoLivingwithHIV/AIDSInitialreactionstoanHIVdiagnosiscanincludefeelingsofShock,dental,andangelTheseemotionscanbeintensiveandoverwhelmingLivingwithHIVcanleadtofeelingsofanxietyanddepression,asindividualsfaceuncertaintyabouttheirfuturehealthandwellbeingManypeoplelivingwithHIVexperiencefearofstigmaanddiscriminationfromothers,whichcanleadtofeelingsofisolationandlonelinessFeelingsofShock,Dental,andAngelAnxietyandDepressionFearofStigmaandDiscriminationEmotionalandPsychologicalImpactSeekingProfessionalHelpIndividualslivingwithHIVcanbenefitfromseekingprofessionalhelpfrommentalhealthcounselorsortherapistswhocanprovidecoveringstrategiesandemotionalsupportJoiningSupportGroupsSupportgroupsprovideasafespaceforindividualslivingwithHIVtosharetheirexperiences,learnfromothers,andfindemotionalsupportPracticin
