Panicked,Icalledouttothefrontforhelp,buttherewasnoresponse,andwehadnocellphonesignal.

Fortunately,twostudentsjustcamebacktocheckonus.Theyofferedassistanceandcalmedusdown.Aswe

continuedataslowerpace,theysharedtheirownexperiences,fromstartingoutasbeginnerslikemydaughterto

beingconsistentlyamongthefirsttoreachthepeak.

“Youknow,^^oneofthemsaid,lookingatmydaughter,t4IwasjustlikeyouwhenIstarted.Butwithpractice

andproperpace,you'llgettheretoo.”

ThedownsideofbrainstormingwithAIwasthatsomestudentsvoicedconcernsaboutoverrelianceonthe

technology.Theyfeareditmightunderminetheirownthoughtsand,consequently,confidenceintheircreative

abilities.Somestudentsreporteda"fixationofthemind”,meaningthatoncetheysawtheAl'sideas,theyhada

hardtimeingupwiththeirown.

SomestudentsalsoquestionedtheoriginalityofideasgeneratedbyALTheresearchsupportedtheseopinions.

WenotedthatwhileusingChatGPTimprovedstudents9creativeoutputindividually,theAIideastendedtobe

repetitiveoverall.ThisislikelyduetogenerativeAIrecyclingexistingcontentratherthancreatingoriginalthought.

Thestudyresultsindicatethatallowingstudentstopracticecreativityindependentlyfirstwillstrengthentheir

beliefinthemselvesandtheirabilities.Oncetheyacplishthis,AIcanbeusefulforfurtheringtheirlearning,much

liketeachinglongdivisiontostudentsbeforeintroducingacalculator.

AsgenerativeAIgainspopularity,schoolsarepressedtosetguidelinestoensurethesetoolsareused
