I.Introduction
Thisunitfocusesonthethemeofsportsandfitness,exploringtheimportanceandbenefitsofanactivelifestyle.TheReadingandThinkingsectionprovidesanin-depthlookatdifferentaspectsofsportsandfitness,inspiringstudentstothinkabouttheirownattitudesandbehaviorstowardsphysicalactivity.
II.TeachingObjectives
Toimprovestudents'readingcomprehensionskills,includingskimming,scanning,andin-depthanalysis.
Toenhancestudents'abilitytodiscussandexpresstheiropinionsonsportsandfitness.

IV.TeachingProcedures
A.Pre-reading
Showsomeexcitingvideosorpicturesofvarioussportstoarousestudents'interest.
Haveabriefdiscussionwithstudentsabouttheirfavoritesportsandwhytheylikethem.
Askstudentstopredictwhatthetextmightbeaboutbasedonthetitleandthepictures.
B.While-reading
Skimming:Havestudentsquicklyscanthetexttogetageneralideaofthecontentandidentifythemaintopic.
Guidedreading:
Dividethetextintosectionsandhavestudentsreadeachsectioncarefully.
Pauseaftereachsectiontodiscussthekeypoints,clarifydifficultvocabulary,andanswerstudents'questions.
Encouragestudentstomakeconnectionsbetweenthetextandtheirownexperiences.
In-depthanalysis:
Havestudentsanalyzethestructureofthetext,suchastheintroduction,body,andconclusion.
Discusstheauthor'spurposeandthewaytheinformationispresented.
Explorethethemesandideasconveyedinthetext,suchastheimportanceofsportsforphysicalandmentalhealth.
C.Post-reading
Groupdiscussion:Dividestudentsintosmallgroupsandassignthemspecificquestionsortasksrelatedtothetext.Forexample:
Discussthebenefitsofdifferentsportsmentionedinthetext.
Compareandcontrasttheattitudestowardssportsofdifferentpeopleinthetext.
Imagineyouareasportscoach,whatadvicewouldyougivetopeopletostayfitandhealthy?
Grouppresentations:Eachgrouppresentstheirdiscussionsandfindingstotheclass.
Openclassdiscussion:Encouragestudentstoaskquestions,shareadditionalideas,andhaveageneraldiscussionbasedonthegroups'presentations.
D.LanguageFocus
Highlightandexplainkeyvocabularyandexpressionsfromthetext,suchas"fitness","endurance","motivation",etc.
Provideexamplesofhowthesewordsandexpressionscanbeusedindifferentcontexts.
Havestudentspracticeusingthenewlanguagethroughsentencecompletionormini-dialogues.

Havestudentscreateaposterorbrochurepromotingaparticularsportorfitnessactivity,usingtheinformationandlanguagetheyhavelearned.
Askstudentstowriteashortparagraphorstoryabouttheirownsportsexperienceorapersontheyadmirewhoisinvolvedinsports.
