playsinsmal1churchhallstothepeopleofEdinburgh.

Todaythe“Fringe”,oncelessrecognized,hasfaroutgrownthefestivalwith

around1,500performancesoftheater,musicanddanceoneveryoneofthe21days

itlasts.Andyetasearlyas1959,withonly19theatergroupsperforming,some
