ThenextdaywebsitesandblogswerefilledwitharticlestheorisingaboutAnytime.WasitashoppingwebsitelikeTaoBaoorAmazon?Ajoke?Somethingillegal?Anytime’smarketinghadworked–itwasahouseholdnamebeforeit’devenmadeasinglesale.

Whentheopeningcame,thatdayatnoon,theAnytimewebsitesuddenlyhadasinglefieldthatread,“Whatdoyouwant?”Allyouhadtodowastypethewordsintothatbox,andthenspecifyhowquicklyyouwantedyouritemdelivered:withinone,ten,ortwenty-fourhours.
