Thesolutionisnottostopthetechnologyandthrowoutthegoodinordertoeliminatethebad.Thesolutionistocreatetoolsthatcandetectdeepfakesandvoiceclones,andprotectusersfromtherisksofmisuse.

Overall,theunaidedpositivesentimentfordeepfakeswas38.5%to48.8%negative.Thefigureswere34.3%positiveto49.1%negativeforvoiceclones.Thisreflectsameasurablenegativesentimentbias.
Interestingly,consumersthatexpressedthehighestlevelsofconcernweresignificantlymorelikelytoexpresspositivesentimentaboutbothtechnologies.Deepfakesregistered51.7%positiveandvoiceclonesshowed45.6%amongthe“Very”and“Extremely”concerned.Itappearsthatmorefamiliaritymayleadtobothmorepositiveinterestandmoreconcern.Theseconsumersbetterappreciatethebenefitsandtherisks.
