AccordingtothedecisionoftheCPPCCin1949whenthePeople‘sRepublicofChinawasfounded,militaryparadeshouldbelistedamongthekeyprogramsoftheGrandCelebrationsofNationalDaythereafter.Atotalnumberof11paradeswereconductedduringthecomingtenyearssincethen,whichhoweverwerefollowedbyabreak-upforaconsecutiveperiodof24years.Theparadewasnotresumeduntil1984.BasedonMr.DengXiaoping’sproposal,thecentralgovernmentdecidedtolaunchagrandparadetocelebratethe35thanniversaryofthenation.Thelatestparadehappenedin1999whenthenationcelebratedits50thanniversary.IntheTian‘anmenSquare,asplendidcross-centuryparadewasstaged.
