ThisplantisoperatedbyacompanycalledFCR.TherecyclingtruckspullintoFCReachweekdaymorningtodropofftheusedmaterial.Inside,theprocessingcenteratFCRisbustlingwithactivity.Oneofthefirstthingsyounoticeinthe26,000-square-footfacilityisahugemoundofmaterialscalledthe“comminglearea.”Basically,it’sabigpileofassortedtrash.Thereareforkliftstransportinggarbage,andpeoplesortingthroughit.PaulaHoffmaniseducationcoordinatoratFCR.Sheconductstoursoftheplantformorethanonethousandpeopleamonth.
