(a)countriesreferredtointhechartabove,includingUSnationalsfromAmericanSamoa,SwainsIslandandnationalsofNewZealandAssociatedTerritories(CookIslands,NiueandTokelau)forupto3months,althoughtransitvisasarerequiredfornationalsofthefollowingonlyholdingone-waytickets:CookIslands,Fiji,MarshallIslands,Samoa,SolomonIslands,Tahiti,Tokelau,TongaandVanuatu;

(b)1.nationalsoftheUKandotherBritishpassportholderswhohaveevidenceoftherighttolivepermanentlyintheUKforvisitsofupto6monthsmaybegrantedavisitorspermitonarrival;

(c)2.nationalsofEUcountries(exceptnationalsoftheUK)forvisitsofupto3months(PortuguesenationalsmusthaverightofresidenceinPortugal)exceptnationalsofCyprus,Estonia,Latvia,Lithuania,SlovakRepublicandPoland,whodorequireavisa;

(d)3.nationalsofAndorra,Argentina,Bahrain,Brazil,Brunei,Canada,Chile,HongKong(SARorBritishNationalsOverseaspassports),Iceland,Israel,Japan,Korea(Rep),Kuwait,Liechtenstein,Malaysia,Mexico,Monaco,Norway,Oman,Qatar,SanMarino,SaudiArabia,Singapore,SouthAfrica,Switzerland,UnitedArabEmirates,Uruguay,USA(includingnationalsfromAmericanSamoaandSwainsIsland)andVaticanCityforvisitsofupto3months;

(e)4.nationalsofAustraliawhoholdacurrentAustralianresidentreturnvisaornationalsofNewZealandwitharesidencepermit;

(f)transitpassengerscontinuingtheirjourneybythesameorfirstconnectingaircraftwithin24hours,providingtheyholdonwardorreturndocumentationandarenotleavingtheairport(somenationalspassingthroughNewZealandalwaysrequireatransitvisa,evenwhennotleavingthetransitloungeoftheairport;enquireattheNewZealandImmigrationServicefordetails);

(g)nationalstravellingonaUNlaissez-passerforvisitsofupto3months.

Note:Allnationalslistedabovemusthavesufficientfundstocoverthedurationofstay.ThismaybeNZ$1000foreachpersonforeverymonthorNZ$400iftheaccommodationisalreadypaidfor.Iftravellingonavisaasastudent,itissometimesnecessarytosubmitevidenceofNZ$10,000peryearorNZ$1,000permonthifstayingforlessthan36weeks,aswellassubmittinganadditionalform.Ifnationalisunabletosubmitproofofsufficientfunds,itispossibletosubmitguaranteeofaccommodationandmaintenancefromaNewZealandcitizen/residentwhoisafriend/relativeandisservingasthenational’ssponsor.

Validity:ThemaximumperiodoftimemostvisitorscanremaininNewZealandis9monthswithinan18-monthperiod.Ifnationalhasstayedfor9monthsormoreinthelast18months,itisnecessarytoleaveNewZealandfor9monthsbeforereturningasavisitor.Itispossibletoqualifyfora3monthextensionifnationalcanprovetheyhavefinanciallysupportedthemselvesduringtheirstay,orhavealreadylodgedanapplicationforresidencethatisstillunderconsiderationatthetimeofreview,orifthenationalcannotleaveNewZealandduetomitigatingcircumstancesthataredeemedoutsideoftheircontrol.IfanationalhasstayedinNewZealandfor12monthsoutofthelast24months,theymustleaveNewZealandfor12monthsbeforebeingallowedtoreturnasavisitor.Visitorsnotrequiringvisasareinitiallyallowedastayforupto6monthswithaBritishpassport.
