I n Withthedevelopmentofeconomy,Zhengzhoualsosharesanexpandingdevelopment.However,it’sstillhardtomeetthegrowingrequirementsofthisprovincecapitalcitywithapopulationofnearly100million.HerecomesZhengdongNewDistrict.In2008,Henanprovincesetupthedirectionalprincipleof“ABigZhengdongDistrict”withradioactiveinfluencestotheoverallprovinceandtheotherprovincesincentral .ThisconceptwillmakeZhengdongNewDistrictintothefurthereconomiccenterofZhengzhou.TheoriginalZhengdongNewDistrictisnnedwith155squarekm,withaSW-NEdirectionhistoricalculturalecologicalaxis,involvingthemunicipalernmentadminarea,CBD,CBDsubcenter,LonghuRiverandsomeothermainrivers.TheprojectsiteisinthecareaofZhengzhoutraffichub.Theconstructionofexpressrailwayandsubwaywillcausedirectaffectstothesurroundingtrading,realestate,tourism,employment,pedestrian,logisticsandbusinessmode.It’snowingthegatewayofZhengzhou,Henanandeventhecentralareaof.TheWestzaarea,inwhichtheprojectislocated,isamedia-highbusinessandretailcenterfocusedonrailwayandpublicroad,internallytargetingatZhengzhoucitizens.ThehubcoredistrictisasupplementelementtoZhengdongDistrictLonghuCBD,issuitableindevelomainfunctionsofcommercialbusiness,hoandservice,big/medium/smallscaleretail,F&Bandentertainment.ProjectTheprojectisinthelogisticsgardenofZhengdongNewDistrict.ItsboundariesareQilihenanRoad,GuangchangbeiStreet,DongfengdongRd,XinyiRdtoitsnorth,south,eastandwest.Thereare4parcelsforconstruction,totally51620sqm,i.e.around78mu,withatotalinvestmentof1.825billionRmB.ThennedsurroundingfacilitiesincludetheundergoingZhengzhouNewRailwayStationand107NationalRoadintheeast,annedOlympiccenterinthewest,QiliheRiverandnorthestatewithGreenlandYuanshengInternationalDevelopmentDeptinthenorth,andthecentral-axis-basedpublicgreenareaofwestzainthesouth.DongfengdongRdtothewestoftheprojectisamainroadofthecity,proposedtobeabi-direction8laneroad,isnowinoperation.Westandsouthpartofthesiteisclosetothemetroline1,sharingaconjunctionwithline5whichgoesfromthenorthtothesouthofZhengzhou. ThemasternoftheprojectfollowstheprincipleofZhengzhouurbannning,consideringitslocationinthemasternning,aswellasitsconnectionstothecomplexofthecitystructure.Itconnectsallthesitesandfunctionsviaanoensystemofcirculationsofcityzaandpedestrianstreets.ParcelD2strengthensthesoutheastoftheprojecttothevehiclesandpedestriansfromtherailstation,togothroughtheinternalpedestrianretailstreetChuangyeRd,andarriveD3officearea.ThemainvehicleentranceisonZhongxingRd,aminorcityroad.TheestatehasaninternalroadwhichgoesparallelwithZhongxingRd,worksasthesubentrancefortheinternalvehicles.Theparcelsarelinkedwitheachotherwithpossiblebasementretailfacilitiesanddrawingpeoplefromtheeasttothewestandsouthalongtheaxis.Withmethodsofopenterracesandslopeescalators,elevatorsandbridges,toconnectthesunkenza,groundza,pedestrianstreetandrooftformina3Dform. mosturbandestinationshaveonethingincommon;theyaregenerallycomprisedofamixofusesthatareadjacentandcommingledbutnotnecessarilyinterlockedspatially.TheorganizingideaforZhengzhouNewRailwayStationWestzaProject,or“ZCity”isaby-productoftheurbanstreetgridandtheinterlockingofthesitehorizontallyandverticallyintothreedimensions.Theprojectcelebratesthisbytranslatingthestreetedgesandnaxis’withinterwovenconnectivitytotheparkandc.Asthisoccurswithinthenthearchitectureisexpresdbyweavingtheseinfluencesfromthepodiumupintoeresidentialandofficetowersandbackdownagain.Thetowershavebeenorganizedtorespectthefavorablesouthernorientationaswellastotakeadvantageoftheviewsofthectothenorthandtheparkviewstothesouth.muchlike2people“lockinghands”asasignoffriendship.Thesetowersarearchitecturallyexpressedbyfusingor“interlocking”theformstocreatea3dimensional“Z”givingthebuildingsadynamicandintegratedexpressionwiththepodium,ala,“ZCity”.Theinterlockingisthencomplimentedinthetowerswithvertical“greentapestries”thattransitionintorooftopgardenterracesatthepodium.Thisnotonlyenhancesthevisualexperiencefortheuser,butalsogivesthebuildingsasenseofconnectingtothesitebothenvironmentallyandfiguratively.Glassandmetalpanelsareusedtogivethetowersamodernandlightfeelthatisbothsophisticatedaswellaspractical.Thepodium,bycontrast,iscomprisedofstoneandglasstogroundthebuildingstothesitebutwithaunifiedexpressionofformandpatternthatgive“ZCity”itsfusedandinterlockedTheconcourseseelevatedwalkwaysthatinterconnecttheprojecthorizontallybetweenthe4parcelsallowingeaseofshopandinterconnectivityfortheretailandotheradjacentuses.Thetenantmerchandisingstrategythatisdepictedistheideaofclusteringtenantsintoshop“districts”bygroutenantsthataresimilarinnature.Thisallowstenantstoreinoneanotherandgivesecustomeraseriofdistinctivedestinationsthatshouldencouragecrossshopandmovementthroughoutthecenter.Elevatedwalkwaysandrooftopgardensarealsointerconnectedtoprovideuniquespatialinctionandavibrantshopexperiencethat,inessence,mergesallfourparcelsintoone.Thisapproachallows”ZCity”tobeinterlockedinbothformaswellasfunction.Thepedestrianstreetexperienceisdesignedtobeverywalkable,urbanandmodern.Featuretenantsarehighlightedatthecornersandtheintroductionofglasscanopies,streetlampsandstreettreesreinsthiscomfortableurbanfeel.AttheheartofZCityisthecentersquare.Thisisconceivedasauniqueandflexiblepublicgatheringspacethatwilldrawpeopletogetherinallseasons.Typicallyasharedspacewherepedestriansandautomotivetrafficco-mingle,duringspecialeventstheroadscouldbeshutdownandthesquaretransformedintoanurbanfestivalGrounds.ThisnotonlyreflectsthegoalsofGreenlandbutisalsoperfectlyalignedwithZhengzhouandthefutureresidentsofthisexcitingnew“ZCity”,respectfulofthepastbutwithdreamsofthefuture!“CityinCity”:Thecityisthemetaphorofacontinuousoasis,coveringthewidesolidearth.Newcitiesareborninnature,withthebreathofsoilandrivers.WeproposetomakeZhengzhouNewStationWestzaintoanewlandmarkofmixeduse,anauthentic“CityinCity”,adynamicinternationaldestination.“CityofEcology”:Theprojectisexpectedtolda“CityofEcology”,atrulysustainableproject:Withappropriateconsiderationstothetower’sdirection,nlargeamountofskygardenandpublicgardenonthesolidroofs;provideopportunitiesof“UrbanFarms”;themanagementofwatersource,strategyforbenefits,trafficsystemanditsconnections,andthemostimportant:Thehighdensitymulti-functionalnningwillarousemorebasicinvestment“Urbangrid”:Theprojectmergesfunctionsofresidence,leisure,work,tourism,shop andtransportationintoacomplex,strengthensthecoherenceofthe“urbangrid”viaaseriesofbridges,skygardens,publicgardensandmixusefacilities.Atthesametime,the4parcelsareintegratedintoacollectiveandwalk-ableurbancentralarea.Alongthestreet,agroupoftowerswithadramaticskylinearestrategically nned.Thecleanandclose nprovidesahigheffectiveutilitymethod.Thesimplebutpowerfulbuildingmassingisanexpansionofthecitynetwork,anevenlynnedlayoutprovidesbettervisiononthepodiumroofgardenandthe“skygarden”alongthewaterfront,whichholdsalongsustainabledeveloGreeneryandLandscapeDesignThegreeneryandlandscapeconceptsworkcloselywiththegeneralideaofthearchitectureandmaster toformanauthentic3dimensionalgreenspace.Thegeometricgreenandlandscapenfollowsthecontextoftheurbannning,inctswitheachotherinwellandcleansequences.Landscapechangesgraduallywhenpeoplewalkthroughtheproject,providingconnectionsbetweenthebuildingsandtheparcelsintoanintegratedunit.Thefeaturesofgreeneryandlandscapevarieswiththeinternaltrafficandpedestriancirculations,creatingwarmandcool,staticanddynamicatmospherebydifferentcolorsofthentings.Waterfeatures,roofgardensandthehighlyexpanding3Dgreenerywillleadthebuildinggroupuptoanincdiblehighlevel.COMPETITIONCONCEPTSeptember12th,
