municationsnetworkthatlinksacrossmetropolitan,regional,ornationalboundaries)usingprivateorpublicnetworktransports.Businessand ernmententitiesutilizeWANstorelaydataamongemployees,clients,buyers,and fromvariousgeographicallocations.Inessence,thismodeof municationallowsabusinesstoeffectivelycarryoutitsdailyfunctionregardlessoflocation.TheInternetcanbeconsideredaWANaswell,andisusedbybusinesses,ernments,organizations,andindividualsforalmostanypurposeimaginable.SeveraloptionsareavailableforWANconnectivity:HostnameAuniqueidentificationthatspecifiesaparticularcomputerontheForexamplecon-NetworksoftwaretranslatesahostnameintoitscorrespondingIPaddressForexample-AnIPaddresscanbesplitnetworkaddress,whichspecifiesaspecifichostnumber,whichspecifiesaparticularmachineinthatnetworkAnIPaddressisstoredinfour-Ahostnameconsistsofthecomputernamefollowedbythe is name nameisseparatedintotwoormoresectionsthatspecifytheorganization,andpossiblyasubsetofanorganization,ofwhichthecomputerisaTwoorganizationscanhaveacomputernamedthesamethingbecausethe
