1、Teaching Design Teaching objectives: Knowledge aims: (1)To enable the students to understand and master some words, phrases and sentence patterns ; (2) To learn some information about Stonehenge. (3) To learn the use of linking words.2 Ability aims: To strengthen the reading skills like predicting,
2、skimming, scanning, careful reading and identifying the linking language;To develop the students ability of critical thinking. 3 Emotional aims: (1)To encourage students to participate in some meaningful activities so that they can get along well with each other; (2) To help students understand the
3、importance of hard work. Teaching key points (1.) To help the students get a general idea of the whole passage, and some detailed information . (2.) To understand the use of linking words. Teaching difficult points (1.)The students use their own words to express their own ideas. (2.)How to help stud
4、ents develop their own critical thinking teaching methods 1. Communicative Language Teaching 2. Task-based Language Teaching 3. Computer Assisted Language Teaching Teaching Procedure Part One: Pre-reading (2minutes) Step1: Lead -in : 1. Picture-talk: Show a picture and ask questions: 1)What are they
5、? 2)What do you think of the stones? 3)Do you know the name of this place? Purpose: to arouse students interest, introduce the topic and let Ss know some background about Stonehenge. Part Two: While-reading(22 minutes) This step is divided into 3 parts: prediction, fast reading and careful reading.
6、Prediction:If you were a visitor, what do you want to know about it? (when, where, how, who, what, why.)Look at the title “Stonehenge-Can Anyone Explain Why It Is There ”.How do you understand the title?(If nobody can explain, we call it a mystery )Purpose: to develop the habit of predicting before
