3、reading interest 1. T greets the class. T: Class begins, boys and girls! Good morning/afternoon! T: Open your book at page 43. Lets have a look at the picture on this page. What do you see on it? T: Yes. A handsome young man is enjoying VR and a robot is standing on the beach. Now lets go through Bi

4、ll Gates words under the topic “Living with technology”. It reads “The advance of technology is based on making it fit in so that you dont really even notice it, so its part of everyday life.” What does it mean? T: Right. What Gates says is about the relationship between technology and life. He emph

5、asizes that technology sneaks into our lives and brings us benefits. T: Now. You have known something about the topic of the unit: How technology is woven into our life. 2. T Now watch a video carefully and fill in the blanks. T: Watch the video again and answer the three questions on page 43. Answe

Our hands could even be used to exchange digital business cards or any other information through a handshake. Sophisticated scanners with sensors created for

17、r mind. Certainly there are some arguments, some of which have been listed in A3. 1. What is the authors attitude to artificial intelligence? 1. Answers: The author is not only excited but also cautious about AI. He uses the example of having a robot 2 do all the work and says “How cool that would b

18、e!” He also explains how AI could benefit us by listing various applications of AI, such as health care and machine translation. However, while looking forward to its potentials, he is clearly concerned about the possible dangers of AI. He asks a series of questions about the future of AI and quotes

19、 Stephen Hawking to show the potential dangers. In the conclusion the author also warns, “We need to make sure that we will not fall victim to AI” 2. In lines 44-46, Stephen Hawking is quoted as saying, “The development of full artificial intelligence could spell the end of the human race.” Do you a

20、gree with him? Why or why not? 2. No. I dont agree with Stephen Hawking. I think that scientists fully understand the concerns about AI, and they will surely be careful about developing it. Even if we are able to create true artificial intelligence, we will know how to control it. According to the T

21、hree Laws of Robotics, put forward by science fiction author Issa Asimov, robots may not injure human beings or allow them to be harmed, they must obey the orders given by human beings except where such orders conflict with the First Law, and they must protect their own existence if that does not co

22、nflict with the First or Second Law. Yes. I agree with Stephen Hawking. With the development of full artificial intelligence, machines may become so intelligent that human beings could no longer control them. If super-intelligent that human beings could think and act completely on their own, it rema

23、ins to be seen how they would treat human beings. It would be extremely dangerous if they decide that humans are their enemies. So I think we need to be very careful with full artificial intelligence, and it is important that we consider possible dangers before it is too late. 3. What do you think i

24、ntelligent machines will be capable of doing in the future? 3. Intelligent machines will certainly have a lot of influence on our lives in the future. For example, we might all have an AI machine in our homes which can tell us whether we have a medical problem and if we need to go to hospital. It might even take the place of the human doctor and treat us at home or in hospital. I think an AI machine will look after our homes for us: it will be able to tell when we are running low o
