1、PAGE PAGE 3 Module 3 The Violence of Nature 说课稿(呼兰一中邢秋艳)Im very honoured to stand here. I come from NO.1 Senior School of Hulan District. And what I want to say today is Module 3 of Book 3. The topic is “ The violence of nature”. First of all , let me show you the analyses of the teaching objectives

2、.One , about the teaching material, This module is aimed at making the students learn about some disasters of nature, meanwhile , letting them know some expressions about these disasters.At the same time, we should make good use of the new words and other teaching resources to train the students abi

3、lity of describing the disasters in fluent oral English. While doing this, we should enhance the students listening, reading, speaking, and writing abilities by studying the reading material. To emotion aims, we should make the students develop the habit of exploring the mysteries of nature.Two, abo

4、ut the students, at present, most of the students often focus the attention on the marks of all the subjects, so they seldom touch nature, and let alone the social activities. So we teachers may make use of the lesson to provide a chance for them to touch nature and explore the mysteries of nature.

5、Secondly, Ill explain my teaching procedures for everyoneThe first step, Leading in the lesson: In this part, I ll present two groups of pictures to my students.The first picture group, show some pictures of WenChuan Huge Earthquake to the class.At the same time, ask some volunteers to say something

6、 about the Huge Earthquake.The second picture group, show some pictures about disasters of nature to the class. Let them call the disasters names . Maybe they call them in Chinese,thats OK.Then Ill give them the English names ,for example , Tornado, hurricane, volcano , flood, drought and so on. And

7、 ask my students to say what bad influence these disasters can bring us. Thus, I natrually lead in this lesson. “The violence of nature”By doing this activity , my students attractions are immediately caught by me. The second step, Reading the whole passage .To begin with , Ill write three questions

8、 on the blackboard.that is: B. Whats a Hurricane?C. Whats an extraordinary event?A. Whats a Tornado? And then Ill divide the whole class into three groups. Name them Group I , Group II, and Group III. Each group can be in charge of one question.And the next step , my class will read the whole passag

9、e with the three questions .Several minutes later, I stop them reading. And then I have three requirements for each group . that is: 1. Answer the key question of your group on the blackboard 2.Put forward strange words or expressions3.Answer the questions from other groups. In order to show my teac

10、hing procedures clearly , I ll take Paragraph 1 for example.First, after every student of the class should read the first part What Is a Tornado . At this time , one of the students of Group 1 can illustrate the question ”Whats a Tornado?”(A tornado is a rotating column of air from a )If he or she i

11、s wrong , other members of this group can correct the answer. And second, Its time for the students of the other two groups to ask some questions.Maybe they can find some unknown words as questions to put forward. Maybe they can ask some questions about the content of this paragraph in detail. Not o

12、nly the students of this group will think about these questions put forward but also all the class discuss the difficult points and they can help each other .the students may interpret the new words or phrases in English. (When meeting with too difficult to explain , the students can turn to the tea

13、cher for help).For example, S1: I dont know the meaning of injuries . T:Look at the sentence: On average, there are 800 tornadoes in the US each year, causing 80 deaths and 1500 injuries. How many people died? Can you explain ? S2: 80 deaths means 80 people died, so I guess, 1500 injuries means thos

14、e people didnt die,but they they are not very well.Another example, S1: What bad effect can a tornado bring us? S2: Tornadoes can pick up cars, trains and even houses and put them down in the next street. And so on .Personally I think adopting Self-access Reading method in addition to the method of

15、group work can promote the students interest of study, and make them take active part in the learning by themselves.Trough the discussion among the groups, the students may grasp the language points very well.and by searching for the information in the passage, the students can understand the outlin

The third step, Discussion .Ill give the last question to my class , that s :When the disaster comes to you , what should you do ?And then Ill show them three vedio sections from three filmsIll give the students several minutes to think about this question ,and they d better write their opinions on a piece of paper. By doing this , I can train my class pres
