1、AStudyontheEducationofRuralLeft-behindChildrenIntroductionSinceChinacarriedoutthereformandopening-uppolicy,thenationaleconomyhasgrownrapidly.Simultaneously,peoplesdemandonmaterialandculturallifeishigher.Inordertosendchildrentoschool,buildhousesandimprovefamilyconditions,alargenumberofsurplusrurallab
2、orshavewarmedintocities.Althoughtheparentshavesettleddownincities,theydonthavetheabilitiestobringtheirkidsandsupportthem.Hence,theyhavetoleavetheirchildrenbehindinthecountryandaskotherstotakecareofthem.Asaresult,thephenomenonoffamilieslivingseparatelyappears.Ruralleft-behindchildren,asminorsinaspeci
3、algroup,needtobeattachedgreatimportanceto.Duetoweakfamilyeducation,laggingschoolmanagementandimperfectsocialandeducationalsystem,left-childrennowfaceproblems,suchaslearninglag,psychologicalunbalance,behavioranomie,andtheirworryingsafety.Therefore,weneedtofocusonthisissueandfindoutsomesolutionsforthe
4、m.TheeducationproblemsandanalysisoftheessenceProblemoflearninglagAccordingtosomeresearches,thegradesofleft-behindchildrenaregenerallylowerthantheaverageofotherchildren.Mostleft-behindchildrencannotconcentrateintheclass,usuallywiththeirmindwandering.Evenwhentheyarecalledbytheteachertoanswerquestions,
5、theydontknowwhatishappeningandjustsay“Idontknow”.Itiscommonthatleft-behindchildrenfailtofinishhomework,skipschoolandevendropoutofschool.Ontheonehand,itisduetotheabsenceoffamilyeducation.Mostleft-behindchildrenareadoptedbygrandparentsorrelatives,mostofwhichhavelowereducationbackground,outdatedthought
6、sandides.Theycantgiveeffectivefamilyeducation,whichisalsoaveryimportantpartofchildrenseducation.Ontheotherhand,schooldoesntpayenoughattentiontoleft-behindchildren.Left-behindchildrenisavulnerablegroup,hence,theyneedhelpandconcernfromteachersandclassmates.However,theschoolconsiderslessabouttheirspeci
7、ficityanddonttakecorrespondingmeasurestohelpthem.ProblemofpsychologicalunbalanceAresearchontheleft-behindchildrenandnonleft-behindchildren,takingtheformofquestionnaire,findsthattheleft-behindchildrenaremoreextremeandsuspicious.Theymoretendtofeellonelyandupset,becomeintroverted,andlackconfidence.Thei
8、rself-consciousnessisinferiortoothers.Asweallknow,parentshavedirectimpactonthechildrensbehavior,mentalhealthandpersonalitydevelopment.Separatingwithparents,left-behindchildrencantgetemotionalcomfortandcare,andtheyoftenfeeltense,depressedandworried.Theymayalsohaveinterpersonalcommunicationproblems.Be
9、causeoflong-termseparationwithparents,theytendtobecomeintroverted,contemptuous,pessimisticandlonely.ProblemofbehavioranomieWithparentsfarwayfromhome,left-behindchildrencannotfeeltheemotionalloveandcareofparents.Thus,theylackproperguidanceintermsofvalues,ethicsandbehaviors.Whatsmore,left-childrenareo
10、ftenbroughtupbytheirgrandparents.Therearemanypotentialproblemsininter-generationeducationsuchasdotage,highlightingmaterialandignoranceofmoralnorms.Left-behindchildrenareapttomakenegativechanges.Accordingtoasurvey,13left-behindchildrenhavethehabitoflying;25ofthemhavetheexperienceofstealingmoney,smoki
11、ng,drinking,destroyingpublicproperty.Left-behindchildrenarenowinthecriticalperiodtoestablishtheidealandcognizetheworld.Iftheycannotgetthehelpfromtheirparentsontheideologicalunderstandingandthevalues,theyaresusceptibletotheoutlookonlife,values,orevenonthepathofcrime,theyarepronetodeviatefromcorrectvi
12、ewonlifeandvalues,andmayevencommitacrime.ProblemofsafetyAtpresent,forlackingofsupervisionfromschool,familyandcommunity,thesafetyprotectionforleft-behindchildrenisbadlyneeded.Thepotentialsafetyproblemsofruralleft-behindchildrenaremainlyreflectedin:(1)schoolsafetyeducationisdeficient,andsecuritymeasur
13、esbecomeamereformality;(2)thecrisisconsciousnessofaccidentalinjuryandevendeatheventsisabsentamongguardians;(3)left-behindchildrenareindifferentwiththelegalconcept,sotheymaydosomeillegalandcriminalthings;(4)theself-protectionconsciousnessofleft-behindchildrenisweak,thustheyispronetogetsexualassault,a
14、bductedandotherabuses.PossiblesolutionsFamily,school,andsocietyarethreecrucialfactorsintheprocessofchildrenslearningandgrowth.Thus,tosolvetheseproblems,theyallneedtomakesomeimprovements.Firstly,whenparentsgoouttowork,theyshouldcarrytheirchildrenwiththemasfaraspossible.Theycansendchildrentotheschoolw
15、hichislocatedneartheirworkplace.Ifnot,theyshouldkeepclosecontactwithchildrenthroughtelephonesandletters.Theyalsoneedtochangetheirmindthatitistheresponsibilityofschoolandteachertotakecareofchildrenseducation.Besides,guardiansshouldguidechildrentoactivelycontactandrespondtotheirparents,talkingaboutthe
16、irstudyandlife.Whatsmore,parentsshouldtaketheopportunityofvacationtoreturnhomeandseetheirchildren.Secondly,schoolisthemainplacechildrenreceivetheireducation,thereforeitisratherimportantforschooltofocusonleft-behindchildren.Schoolshouldimprovetheteachersqualityandtheirteachingquality.Theyshouldestabl
17、ishasystemofregularcontactwithguardiansofleft-behindchildreninordertolearntheconditionwhenchildrenareathomeandhelpguardianstofulfilltheirdutiesofguardianship.Teacherneedoftentotalkwiththemandcomfortthem.Theschoolcurriculumshouldalsobeadjusted.Thecurriculumonsurvival,safetyandlegislationeducationandm
18、entalhealtheducationshouldbesetup,sothattheycandevelopcomprehensively.Lastbutnotleast,societyshouldalsofocusonthisissue.Foronething,theprincipleofchoosingschoolaccordingtodomicileplaceshouldbealtered.Governmentsshouldprovideguaranteemechanismandlegalsupportforchildrenofruralmigrantworkers,acceleratethereformofhouseholdregistrationandeducationsystem,abolishallunreasonablefeesandmakemigrantchildrenenjoythesametreatmentwithurbanchildrenintermsofeducation.Forano
