4、ummarize what we learnt in the class Reading一、词汇讲解1.I wish I could avoid giving my lecture tonight, Hans, but I dont want to let my audience down.我希望我能避开今晚的讲座,汉斯,但是我不想让我得观众失望。(1)avoid 意思是“避免,避开”,后接名词、代词;avoid doing 意思是“避免做”。e.g. Luckily,we were able to avoid an accident. 我们幸运地逃过一场事故。I tried to avoid
5、 meeting him because he always bored me.我尽量避免遇到他,因为他总是让我觉得很厌烦。(2)letdown 意思是“使失望”。e.g. I ll never let you down again.我绝不会再让你失望了。2.Ive listened to your lecture so many times that Ive learnt it by heart.您的讲座我已经听了很多次,都把它熟记于心了。(1)sothat意思是“如此以至于。so 后接形容词或副词。e.g. His feet were so big that he couldnt find
6、 shoes large enough to wear.他的脚太大了,以至于找不到足够大的鞋来穿。 He got up so late this morning that he missed the early bus.今天早上他起床晚了,以至于没赶上早班车。(2)by heart意思是“单凭记忆;能背诵”。e.g. Miss Li asked us to learn the poem by heart.李老师要求我们记住这首诗。3.Einstein took a seat ,listened to Hans give his lecture without difficulty, and j
7、oined in the applause at the end.爱因斯坦找个位子坐下,听汉斯轻而易举地做讲座,最后和大家一起鼓掌。without difficulty意思是“轻而易举。join in意思是“参加;加入。e.g. He can carry the big stone without difficulty.他能轻而易举地搬动这个大石头。 Everyone has to join in the training.人人都得参加培训。 May I join in the game?我可以参加这个游戏吗?4.He then asked a question so difficult th

10、而真正的主语是 to do sth。e.g. Its a pity to give up such a good chance.要放弃这么好的一个机会,真是件令人遗憾的事。2. They left the university , with Einstein driving.他们离开了大学,开车的是爱因斯坦。with Einstein driving 在句中作状语。e.g. She walked back to the bus stop, with the dog following her. 她走回到公共汽车站,小狗跟在她的后面。三、 经典句记忆1.I wish I could avoid

16、可以作主语、宾语、宾语补足语、定语、表语和状语等多种成分。另外,动词不定式具有动词特点,可以有自己的宾语和状语,组成动词不定式短语。动词不定式的肯定形式是todo;其否定形式是not todo。练一练:写出下列动词的不定式结构的肯定形式和否定形式; go _ _eat _ _play _ _下面以动词不定式在句中的作用来予以详细说明。1 作主语 1).可以直接作主语,谓语动词需用单数。如: To see is to believe 练一练:To study English hard _ very important.2).但在英语中,常用it作形式主语,真正的主语即动词不定式放在后面。如: I

18、turn _ _ (clean) the classroom. 2作宾语 1). want,decide ,agree等动词后面跟并且只能跟不定式。如: We agreed to start early She wants to be a doctor 2).love,like ,begin,start,hate ,prefer等词后面可以接不定式。 规律:上述动词后面除接不定式外,还可以接动名词,意思无很大区别。 提示板:like doing指经常性动作,而like to do指一次性的动作。如: I like swimming,but I don't like to swim no
19、w我喜欢游泳,但我现在不想游。 3).stop,forget,remember,go on ,try等词或短语后面可以接不定式,还可以接动名词。 规律:上述动词后面接不定式和接动名词意思大不相同。 提示板: stop to do sth:停止一件事,去做另一件事。 stop doing sth:停止正在做的事。 例句:When the teacher came in,the students stopped talking;when he came out,the students stopped to talk 当老师走进来时,学生们停止说话;当老师走出去时,学生们又开始说话。 思考:for
20、get,remember,go on,try等词或短语后面接不定式和动名词用法有何区别?a. 表示“忘记”将要做的事,用 forget to do sth 表示“忘记”曾经做过的事,用forget doing sth。 b. remember to do 意思是记住去做某事,表示这件事情还没有做. remember doing 意 思是记得做过某事,表示这件事情还已经做了c. go on doing sth 是指继续做同一件事, go on to do sth 是指继续去做另一件事d. try to do sth. 一般用于比较难的事情上的尝试、努力、设法去做。并暗示结果是失败的. try d

23、可能还是有点淡。如果是三个人喝的话,就可能得出三个结论。 4).在findfeelitadjto do sth句型中,it是形式宾语,真正的宾语是后面的动词不定式。如: The man downstairs found it difficult to get to sleep I feel it easy to recite the text 练一练: He finds it interesting _ (read) the bookThey feel it hard _ (finish) the task on time. 3作宾语补足语 1).tell,ask,want,order,tea
24、ch,invite,warn,wish,help,get,wish,help等词后面常接不定式作宾补。如: I tell him not to go there by bus Edison's mother taught him to read and write 2).let,make,have,see,hear,feel,watch, notice后面接不带to的不定式作宾补。如: The boss makes them work 16 hours a day I heard her sing in the next room 提示板:若变成被动语态,在上述结构中,不定式符号to要
25、加上。如: They are made to work 16 hours a day by the boss She was heard to sing in the next room练一练: Though he often _(make) his sister cry, today he was _ (make)cry by his sister.尽管他总是弄哭他妹妹,今天却被妹妹弄哭了。They ask her _( leave )the country. 4作定语:放在被修饰的名词、代词后面 例句:I have a lot of work to do The doctor said h
26、e could do nothing to help the boy 规律:动词不定式若在句中作定语,常放在被修饰的名词、代词之后。 提示板:如果动词不定式和前面所修饰的词构成动宾关系,若动词是不及物动词,切记不要忘掉介词。如: I have a small bedroom to live in Have you got some pens to write with? 练一练: The next train _ (arrive) is from Washington.
