1、MBA Admission Current Howe School MS StudentsAdmission RequirementsIf you are currently enrolled in a Howe School Masters program, viz., Information Systems (MSIS), Management (MSM), or Telecommunications Management (MSTM), you can apply at any time for admission to the MBA program provided your cum

2、ulative GPA is 3.0 or higher, AND you have taken the GMAT scoring >500 (550 for FE majors). You only need to complete a Program Add/Change form available at /sit/graduate/apply/upload/Program_Change.pdf and submit it to the Graduate Admissions office. You will subsequently re

3、ceive a letter from Graduate Admissions advising you of the MBA admission committees decision and the name of your new advisor. If you have reached the point where you have completed all of the courses in your MS program, and now wish to continue to the MBA without formally graduating with the MS de

4、gree, you also need only complete a Program Add/Change form and submit it to the Graduate Admissions office. Such students may be eligible to receive a conditional admit to the MBA program if they have not taken the GMAT, which will enable them to continue their studies without a break. They will, h

5、owever, be expected to take the GMAT (score >500) prior to the completion of three courses to remain in good standing. Students who received Conditional Admit status and who have completed three courses will have a registration hold placed on their accounts until the GMAT requirement is met.Proce

6、ssThe first thing you need to decide is the MBA Major that you wish to pursue. We currently offer eleven (11) majors in the Flex MBA-TM program Engineering Management, Financial Engineering, Global Technology Management, Information Management, IT/Financial Services, IT/Outsourcing, IT/Pharmaceutica

7、l industry, Pharmaceutical Management, Project Management, Technology Innovation, and Telecommunications Management. Those italicized are the Majors for which all courses are available on-line. Details on the various Majors can be found on the MBA website. See /academics/gradua

8、te-programs/flex-mba/curriculum/. The MBA degree consists of 20 courses (60 credits), 10 of which are core courses (30 credits) with the remaining 10 (30 credits) consisting of breadth courses plus courses comprising the particular major. The number of courses you will need to take will depend on th

9、e number completed to date in your MS program. If you wish to major in the same or related concentration as you are pursuing in your MS program and have completed your final course in your MS program, you will normally need to take an additional eight (8) courses for the MBA. Depending on your caree

10、r objectives, you may want to think about the Dual Degree option, which enables students to graduate with an MBA degree in Technology Management and an MS degree. This option is suited to students who would like their MBA major to be in a different discipline from their MS concentration, e.g., an MB

11、A in Project Management and an MS in Information Systems. You dont have to make a decision regarding the Dual Degree option until you are approaching the completion of your MBA courses. Dual degree students simply withhold their Application for Candidacy (AC) for the MBA until such time as they have

12、 completed the additional four courses for a total of 72 credits. It is the number of credits on the AC that tells the registrar whether you are applying for a MBA degree only, or a dual MS/MBA degree. Study PlanHaving chosen your Major, you now need to develop your study plan. You begin by printing

13、 out the generic study plan for that major, which you will find at /academics/graduate-programs/flex-mba/study-plans/. Check off the courses completed to date in your MS program, and include the grade that you received for each course. You can get those grades from your MS tran

14、script. Courses that you took in your MS program that are not listed in the MBA study plan should be substituted for the elective offerings where available. For example, if you are intending to go for the dual degree option, there are four (4) elective options where you can write in the courses from

15、 your MS concentration. Your objective is to ensure that all courses from your MS program are included in the MBA study plan in order to assure maximum reuse of credit. Those courses remaining on the study plan that have NOT been checked constitute your study program for the MBA. If you have courses

16、 in your MS that you have not been able to accommodate in your MBA study plan, you will need to consult your advisor to determine an appropriate substitution. In cases where you have substituted, or propose to substitute another course for one listed in the study plan, or have had courses from anoth

17、er institution approved for transfer credit, be sure to indicate those courses in the study plan together with the substituted course so it is clear to your advisor and to the registrar what is being proposed.The last step is to have your advisor approve your study plan and forward a copy to the Reg

18、istrar. In planning your schedule, you will find the MSM perpetual calendar, which is on the MSM web site at /academics/graduate-programs/management/calendar/ very useful for planning your schedule for core courses. Make sure you are aware of any required prerequisites so that

19、you can take this into account when planning your schedule. There is no difference between courses offered via the Web and those offered in traditional classroom instruction. 23、es with an MSIS degree with a concentration in Information Management. He now wishes to continue to an MBA in IT Financial Services. Since the disciplines are related (both deal with information technology), John Doe can get his MBA degree with only 8 additional courses as shown in the attached stud

24、y plan (Appendix 1). Following completion of his courses and submission of an Application for Candidacy (AC), the registrar replaces the MSIS degree in John Does transcript with the MBA in Technology Management degree. In the event that John Doe had continued directly to the MBA without submitting h

25、is AC for the MS degree, there would be nothing to change. The registrar simply records the MBA in the transcript. 2. Jane Doe graduates with an MSIS degree with a concentration in Global Innovation Management. She wishes to keep that degree and graduate with an MBA in Technology Management with a M

26、ajor in IT Financial Services (FS). Since the major is in a different discipline, it will require more than eight courses to complete the course requirements for the MBA/FS degree. In reality, she needs an additional 11 courses, but to meet the 72-credit requirement of the dual degree, she will need

27、 to take an extra course (elective). In the example shown in Appendix 2, that elective appears as Mgt 671 but any course could be substituted with the approval of an advisor. Following completion of her courses and submission of an Application for Candidacy, she will receive the MBA in Technology Ma
