、 As is vividly depicted in the first cartoon, the tender flower blossoms inside the greenhouse in spite of the gusty wind, driving rain and terrifying lightning. Unfortunately, as soon as it is exposed to the thunderstorm, it soon fades and withers, with its delicate petals washed away.2. The fact t

、hat flowers growing in the greenhouse cannot withstand the test of the storm indicates that too much comfort spoils the child. As the only child excessively cared by the parents, young people are often associated with the flowers. The greenhouse epitomizes parents doting care which shelter the child

、ren from the thunderstorm, in other words, the competitive world. The greenhouse flower is too weak to survive in the wild, where weeds always flourish. In the same way, once young people met with some setbacks, they will feel frustrated and thus lose heart inevitably, which may well lead to tragedy

、 or some kind.3. Only when a person experiences all sorts of trials and sufferings can he or she survive the blows of storms and misfortunes, and eventually establish himself firmly in the society. As the old saying goes, “Adversity leads to prosperity.” Lets get out of “greenhouse” to see the fasci

、nating world, to mix up with people and get prepared for the fierce competition ahead. 1. As the title indicates, “greenhouse flowers cannot survive unpleasant weather”, the set of pictures apparently reminds us that excessive production only leads to negative results. When a flower blossoms in the

、greenhouse despite of the external rain and thunder, it withers immediately once being moved out of its cozy haven.2. Children in China are always compared to “the flowers of our motherland”. It is alarming that a large portion of them are in danger of experiencing a similar misfortune to the flower

、 in the picture. This is partly attributed to the birth of a generation of “only children”, who are quite pampered and spoiled by their parents. Leading a life full of success, love and sweetness, these children are quite ignorant of failure, hardship, and the taste of tears that abound in real life

、. Therefore, when they leave home, they might be overly sensitive to frustration and easily suffer depression that prevents them from a happy and promising future.3. This type of child is not what we hope for the future of our country. On the contrary, we need to nurture a generation that is fully p

、repared for independent life, so that it is ready to confront any challenge, adapt to changes of environment, and survive the heated competition in todays world.1. As is shown in the two pictures, the same flower has different fate when put in different situations. When there is protection, the flow

、er blooms beautifully. However, when exposed directly to rain and storm, the flower quickly withers. We can safely come to the conclusion that greenhouse flowers cannot withstand rain and storm. 2. The same is true with our children. As the one-child policy is adopted in China, more and more parents

、 overprotect their children. With everything done for them and every need satisfied by their parents or grandparents, these only children seem to be healthy, happy and high-spirited. But when they leave home, they become disappointed and frustrated. Facing harsh things they have never experienced be

、fore, such as competition from peers, criticism from supervisors, pressure for deadlines and restriction for discipline, they will be at a loss, miserable or even desperate. In fact, the more protection they get from their parents, the less ability they acquire. Parents love for their children turns

、 out to be a disaster.3. Children , like flowers, should be treated with care, but reasonable and sensible ways of doing things will help to bring about more fruitful results. If we not only love our children but also teach them how to love, our love will be passed down from generation to generation

、; if we not only solve problems for our children but also encourage them to solve problems, our diligence and ingenuity will make our life more meaningful and worthwhile. 2004年作文真题年作文真题Directions: Study the following drawing carefully and write an essay in which you should 1) describe the drawing,2)

、 interpret its meaning, and3) support your view with examples. You should write about 200 words neatly on ANSWER SHEET 2. (20 points)终点又是新起点 The drawing vividly shows a runner who is making a spurt at the finishing line which is also a new point he will start from. In the drawing, the runner is runn

、ing with painstaking effort around the track of a playground, sweat pouring down his face. On both sides of the runner, there are two poles and a line between them. On the ground there are two signs that say “ENDING” and “STARTING”. The painter wants to tell us that, just like running, whatever we a

、re doing, we should never stop making progress. First and foremost, it applies to individuals as in such a competitive world everybody is trying to get ahead. Furthermore, the country on the whole should move ahead in terms of politics, economy, and culture so that we Chinese as a nation can gain su

、stained respect from other people. Examples to prove the view are abundant. The most persuasive are cases of famous athletes like Fu Mingxia and Deng Yaping, whose success is gained through non-stop efforts. By contrast, a lot of people choose to take a rest to enjoy their small success and thus los

、e the motivation for further achievement. In sum, keeping making progress should be the right attitude towards life and work for everybody and even for a country.1. The picture presents a young runner who just finishes a long run and arrives at the finish line, sweating and smiling. While he stands

、at the end, a sign stating “beginning” lies not far away from his position, indicating that “an end means a new beginning”.2. It is true that when a runner reaches the end of one race, he needs to realize that his immediate task is how to achieve the next goal, instead of indulging the past glory an

、d accomplishment. The identical truth applies to every individual, organization, and nation, that setting new goals continuously is the source of advancement.3. The deaf and mute American girl Helen Keller is a typical example of our case, as she had spent her whole life struggling and striving for

、one goal after another. It is not surprising that she finally turned out to be an excellent writer. Equally, businesses and industries should keep setting new tasks in order to preserve their competitiveness. Microsoft, for instance, never ceases creating new products - the company launched Vista, O

、ffice 2007 and Exchange Sever recently - though it is already such a huge conglomerate. In short, it is non-stop efforts that lead to progress.1. From the cartoon given above, we can observe that there is young boy running towards the finish line. Sweating profusely but wearing a smile on his face ,

、 he has no intention of stopping. Taking a look at the arrows on the track,we can find that they are written the beginning“ and the ending. Definitely, his behavior best explains the meaning of the words on the arrows and the caption below: the ending is a new beginning. 2. The cartoon informs us of

、 a truth that, having reached the periodical objectives, we should not be satisfied with them. Instead, we need to set up new goals and keep on fighting for them. However, few people would like to do that. Some people have been defeated by hardships and challenges even before they reached their goal

、s. Then, others fulfill their goals through diligence or good fortune but fail to set up new ones and motivate themselves to rise to a higher position. They can hardly achieve a greater success, what is more serious is that they are likely to be surpassed or even eliminated by their rivals.3. Whatev

、er inborn differences people may exhibit in their native intelligence and backgrounds, those differences can be offset by diligence and persistent efforts. people can achieve success and stay ahead temporarily, but it is their modesty and higher pursuits that determine whether they could go further.

、 2007年真题Directions: Write an essay of 160-200 words based on the following drawing. In your essay, you should1) describe the drawing briefly,2) explain its intended meaning, and then3) support your view with an example/examples.You should write neatly on ANSWER SHEET 2. (20 points)1. It is symbolica

、lly illustrated in the cartoon that a striker is preparing to shoot at the goal defended by a goalkeeper on a football field. In the goalkeepers mind, he is so much smaller than he actually is that guarding the goal becomes a mission impossible. On the contrary, the giant guard seems to fill up the

、whole goal in the attacking players mind.2. The purpose of the drawing is to show us that in the face of seemingly insurmountable challenges or predicament, possessing self-confidence is of utmost significance. Regardless of how much success one has had in school or at work, there are bound to be ti

、mes when he or she will encounter problems. It is at these critical times that his self-confidence, toward difficulty and life in general, eventually plays a crucial role in determining whether he can turn failure into victory.3. I can think of no better illustration than following one. Helen Keller

、 was deaf, dumb and blind, certainly nothing to give her self-confidence. Nevertheless, she went on to conquer her multiple handicaps to finally become a writer and lecturer, to become an inspiration to all. This case effectively clarifies that no matter what tasks we are confronted with, we should

、never overestimate the difficulties or underestimate our ability. 1. The picture shows a critical moment that can occur in any soccer game - a player is about to kick the ball while the keeper is fully ready for the attack. Interestingly, the player and the keeper are experiencing quite opposite psy

、chological processed: the player thinks the task is extremely difficult as the goal is quite small compared with the huge keeper, while the latter fears that the goal is too enormous for him to protect.2. It is conspicuously indicated that in order to gain confidence and achieve success, we not only

、 need to attain a thorough understanding of our own merits and disadvantages, but also those aspects of our opponents. Both the player and the keeper merely focus on their own faults and their counterparts advantages, leading to their hesitation at the key time.3. In a recent interview of hurdler Li

、u Xiang, he revealed that his success is partly owed to his training teams study of his strong competitors around the world, so that he could learn from the others and be more confident when facing any new race. Just as the ancient Chinese philosophical book The Art of War concludes, if you know you

、rself and your enemy, youll never lose a battle.1. From the cartoon given above, we can observe that there are two sportsmen playing football on a playground. Influenced by the idea that the goal is larger than it really is and I am so small, the goalkeeper seems to be quite anxious and doubts wheth

、er he can catch the ball or not. Meanwhile, with the thought that the goalkeeper looks like an invincible giant in his mind, the striker is also fairly nervous. It is obvious that both of them lack confidence and overestimate the difficulties.2. The cartoon informs us of a fact that, in many cases,

、people tend to overrate the outside difficulties while underrate the inner confidence and power. The reason why people lack confidence is that they dont even know themselves thoroughly and recognize themselves profoundly, that they have no idea what their strengths and weaknesses are. Whats more, th

、e absence of self-assurance can also be attributed to the inadequate preparation. How could a teacher, an attorney or a doctor become confident without much preparation for the lesson to teach, the case to finish or the operation to perform ? The lack of confidence will inevitably arouse fear for ou

、tside challenges and difficulties, this is something like a vicious circle, which will in turn weaken ones confidence.3. However, the importance of self-confidence is undeniable. Confidence enables us to achieve our objectives and realize our dreams more smoothly and rapidly. The more confident we are

、, the more likely we are to face challenges courageously, keep sober in adversities and win others trust and support. Believe yourself no matter how harsh the outside world seems to be. Who will trust you if you lose confidence in yourself ? As is shown in the picture, lying on the ground, a young m

、an is loafing all day away. Without doing anything, he is just dreaming of “opportunity”. But what accounts for the opportunities in our lives? This question is likely to elicit a variety of responses. To begin with, except mere chance, most opportunities stem from our own attitude and mindset. Oppo

、rtunities are always around us, waiting for those with courage and enterprise to seize them. What is more, many of our opportunities are the result of hard work and perseverance. A perfect example is the Olympic athletes. Many Olympians are born with superior physiques, but without years of rigorous

、 training, none of them would have realized their potential or have had the opportunity to participate in the Olympic Games. To sum up, it is my view that the number of opportunities each of us has depends on a combination of factors, including chance, our mindset, and perseverance. Only people who

、are well-prepared can make full use of opportunities and achieve success.2008年真题Directions: Write an essay of 160-200 words based on the following drawing. 50、on ANSWER SHEET 2. (20 points)1. As is symbolically illustrated in the cartoon, supporting each other with their firm hands, two handicapped adolescents are continuing their new journey on the ground. Crutches left behind, they have successfully cracked the hard nut of lameness which might have conf

、used the majority of the disabled. The caption indicated, “You have merely one leg and so do I. Helping each other, we can travel all around.”2. Undoubtedly, we can deduce from the portrayal that the cartoonist is trying to attract our attention to the issue of cooperation. According to a survey con

、ducted among a group of people who were in the same college class 10 years ago, those who are ready to give their cooperation to others all became rich or managers of all fields, while not a single young man having difficulty in getting along with their classmates becomes an executive or a boss. Why

、 those who are excellent in team work to be managers or run their own enterprise in their later life? The answer seems self-evident. On the one hand, if you are competent in profession, but have difficulty in getting along with your colleagues and even your boss, you can hardly survive the corporati

、on. On the other hand, your chances of success are much higher with wide circle of friends who are willing to cooperate with you to provide information and resources.3. It is my view that, first and foremost, we can frequently use the drawing to enlighten the juvenile to learn to cooperate successfu

、lly with each other. Furthermore, whatever difficulty or situation we are confronted with, those who have the spirit of cooperation and team work are nearer to success. Just as John Adams, the second U.S. president quoted from the ancient Greek Aesops Fables, “United we stand, divided we fall.”1. Th

、e picture sets its background in an immense wasteland with endless mountains in the far reach. Two handicapped men are traveling in the wild, one lacking a left leg and the other a right leg. To make it easier, they decide to hold each other and make full use of their only legs, so that they can wal

、k like one person, thus abandoning their crutches. Just as the subtitle indicates, in this way they will have no difficulty going anywhere.2. Apparently, the picture aims to emphasize the importance of cooperation among individuals. Although most people are physically healthy, they do have their own

、 advantaged and disadvantages concerning their characters and abilities. Therefore, only through effective collaboration can people realize specialization - optimize what we are good at, and have others make up our limitations. Consequently, with the joint efforts people are more likely to accomplis

、h great deeds. On the contrary, the conceited always ends in futile efforts of achieving improvement.3. From my point of view, what the picture suggests not only fits the individuals, but can also be applied on the collective level. Organizations and nations, in todays world, are eager to seek coope

、ration too, because the division of work and mutual assistance make them stronger. It is cooperation that drives or complicated modern society work.2012年真题Directions: write an essay of 160-200 words based on the following drawing.
