By guiding students to analyze John Snows process and methods of exploring the source of cholera, cutting off the source of infection, and finally preventing the epidemic

2、of cholera, the textbook urges them to think about and sort out the basic steps and common methods of scientific research, and understand the important role of questioning spirit in scientific research.This paper is a narrative text that describes the development process of events in chronological o

3、rder.The steps of scientific research are the hidden clue of the article. The first paragraph introduces the background of the research. The second paragraph is the first stage of scientific research, that is, raising the question: there were two views on the source of cholera at that time. The foll

4、owing third paragraph describes the research process adopted by Snow: collecting data, analyzing results, finding further evidence, and finally reaching a conclusion. Snow came up with a scientific and effective way to map cholera cases. He marked the residences of all the patients who died of chole

5、ra on the map, so that the residences with high mortality could be seen obviously. Snow found that residents of zero death homes did not have water from a pump because they received free beer. As a result, snow suspected that the pump was the problem. Supported by another case, snow concluded that t

6、he water in the pump carried cholera bacteria. He immediately had the pump handle removed, cutting off the transmission of cholera. The fourth paragraph reveals the truth about the spread of cholera. It has been proved that the water in Broad Street is polluted by waste, and people who drink such wa

7、ter will greatly increase the probability of getting sick. The last paragraph describes Snows contribution to the control of cholera transmission. Thanks to snows tireless efforts, people began to drink clean water, and the threat of cholera was significantly reduced worldwide. His research results

8、and research methods are also of practical significance to the prevention of cholera today, and cholera map has become a classic case of epidemiological research, so snow has won the reputation of father of epidemiology.1.
