3、n of the teaching material:The topic of this unit is about travel in France. Its attractive to Ss., so all the activities in this unit ought to be helpful to arousing students9 learning interest. This unit will be finished in three periods. Ss will learn the passage on Page 39 during the first perio

4、d. Next class, We will focus on the following exercises from Page 94 to Page 102. The section of writing and The leaning Tower of Pisa in More Practice will be taught during the last period. In many reading instruction programs, more emphasis and time may be placed on testing reading comprehension t

5、han on teaching readers how to comprehend. The text Travel is a typical exposition. Its a good opportunity to teach Ss how to handle with this kind of expositions with tips and skills. So its veiy important to learn this lesson well.2、Analysis of the students:Most of the Ss in our class are keen on

6、English and full of passion in classes. Usually they pay great attention to what I taught and deliver a good interaction with me. While a few of the Ss are not quite interested in English and most of them are afraid to speak in public. On the other hand, due to lack of the common sense in the fields

7、 of Geography and History, they know little about the background of France, especially on culture. Thats the reason why reading comprehension is always the worst part for them to finish when they have an exam. So on condition that they have a good master of the new words and key words in the text, I

8、 will provide them with more details on the country itself to make sure that their knowledge will be enlarged and their horizons will be broadened.3、Analysis of the teaching difficulties:Its difficult to pronounce the names of some attractions in France like the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, th

Show Ss the travel brochure and a video given by the travel agent. Watch the video and ask Ss to take notes about the country such as facts and figu

11、res.Via watching the video, students may definitely know what we will learn today and get some ideas about the coimtty. At the same time, they may re view the skills of note-taking, how to use abbreviations and symbols to help write quickly in Unit 5.2 Tell Ss what my family members like best, and a

12、sk Ss to skim the whole text and find out which paragraph every family member will be interested in.When they get the answers to my question, actually they have concluded the main ideas of each paragraph so that they will be trained to find the key words, phrases and sentences in the text within the

16、rts are organized.The passage is a good opportunity for me to be taught in the way of reading teaching. To my point of view, a reader ,s background knowledge can influence reading comprehension. Background knowledge includes all of the experiences that students bring to a text : life experiences, ed

17、ucational experiences, knowledge of how one s first and second language works, and cultural background and knowledge. Reading comprehension can be significantly enhanced if background knowledge can be activated by setting goals, asking questions making predictions, teaching text structure and so on.

18、 If Ss are reading on cm unfamiliar topic, I need to begin the reading process by building up background knowledge. Vice versa, incorrect background knowledge can hinder comprehension. For example, some students may have nusconceptions about the landmarks in France. They may believe Statue of Libert
