Unit9 I like music that I can dance to.Period 1 Section A 1a-1d-by Wangdan一Analysis of the teaching material My teaching material is from Unit9 Section A 1a-2c. This is the first period mainly talking about music. And in this class, Ill lead Ss to express their preferences on music by listening and speaking practice. Meanwhile, Ill try to help Ss learn about the attributive clauses with that.二Analysis of the students Students in my class are teenagers. They have already gotten some experiences about life, about music, and have their own preference. At the same time, most of them are interested in music, so this period can be emotional and practical.三Teaching aims and demands1. Language goals::1) grasp some new words and phrases:prefer, lyrics, sing along with, dance to2) grasp the sentence patterns:-What kind of music do you like? -I like/prefer music that.3) learn about the attributive clauses with that.2. Emotional goals:To arouse Ss interests in music and beauty. To practice their listening and speaking abilities.四Difficult and important points:Important points: Make sure Ss can use the sentence pattern-I like music that.Difficult points: Make more Ss take part in the class activities, and help them speak English.五 Teaching methodsCommunicative Language Teaching, Task-based Language Teaching, Visual Teaching六Teaching proceduresStep1. Lead-in 1. Find out the topic and grammar focus by watching the titleI likemusic that I can dance to.(I aim to lead into the topic of this class-music, and general introduce the attributive clauses with that.2. How many kinds of music do you know? (I try to help Ss know more about music and arouse their interests in music.)3. What kind of music do you like? (Ill play there pieces of music, and ask some Ss to sing.) (I design this step to help Ss practice I like music because.)Step2. Presentation1. Look at the pictures and sentences in 1a. Ask Ss to find the similarities of the four sentences: I like/prefer music that2. Explain the key points: sing along with, dance to, prefer (to)3. Explain how to make sentences with that.(I do this to catch Ss attention on the attributive clauses with that, and help them master the phrases.)Step3. Practice1. Rewrite the sentence I like music becauseby using I like music that2. listening(1b)First look through the table in 1b, then listen and check the kinds of music Tony and Betty like.Ask some Ss to share their answers.Listen again and repeat the sentences that can help you get the answers while listening. (check the answers)3. Speaking (Group-work)Divide Ss into four groups. Each group can choose a topic to talk about. For example: sports, books, movies, food, clothes.
