Unit 1 Slow and steady wins the race慢而稳,事必成Janet: Jiamin, are you OK?珍妮特:嘉明,你还好吗?Jiamin: I tried to carry all the books. I didnt want to go back to the classroom again.嘉明:我想搬走所有的书。我不想再返回一次教室了。Xiaoling: why are you in such a hurry? You are like that silly hare.小玲:你为什么这么急?我看起来像那只笨野兔。Jiamin: Hare? What do you mean?嘉明:野兔?你什么意思?Xiaoling: You know.the old story about the tortoise and the hare.小玲:你知道的。龟兔的景点故事。Janet: Yes. One day a tortoise and a hare had a race. The hare was sure he would win so he took a rest. He was too proud and careless. The slow but careful tortoise won the race.珍妮特:是的。有一天一只乌龟好一只野兔比赛赛跑。野兔和确信他会赢得比赛,所以他休息了一会儿。他太骄傲粗心了。缓慢但是认真的乌龟最终赢得了比赛。Jiamin:Ahh. I understand now. Remember, slow and steady wins the race.珍妮特:是的。记住。慢而稳,事必成。Unit 2 Waiting for another hare守株待兔One day, a farmer was working in the field. Suddenly a hare ran very fast and crashed into a tree. It fell to the ground and died. The farmer was happy. He picked up the hare and took it back home. He cooked it and had a delicious meal.有一天,一位农夫正在田间劳作。突然一只野兔快速跑了过来,撞在了树上。它掉落在地上死掉了。农夫很开心。他捡起野兔把它带回了家。“ Working in the field every day is hard work. But picking up a hare is so easy.” he said to himself. From then on, the farmer stopped working. All day long, he sat in the field and waited for a hare to appear. All his vegetables died. All his animals ran away. But another hare never came, so the farmer had nothing to eat.“每天在田间劳作太辛苦了。但是捡野兔如此容易。”他自赞自语道。从此以后,这位农夫不在工作。一整天他都坐在田间等待着野兔的出现。他所以的蔬菜都死掉了。所有的动物逃跑了。但是另一只野兔从未出现过,所有这位农夫没有任何东西可以吃。Dont be like the farmer. Dont wait for another hare. Go for it !不要像农夫那样守株待兔。自己去抓它!Unit 3 What animal is it ?它是什么动物?Jiamin: Lets play a game. Can you guess this animals name? It has two strong back legs and can jump very far.嘉明:让我们玩个游戏吧!你们能猜出这个动物的名字吗?它有两条粗壮的后肢,并且可以跳的很远。Janet: Hmm.thats difficult. You try, Janet.小玲:是的。你试试,珍妮特。Janet: It is a large cat. It loves eating meat. A lion!嘉明:我知道了,是狮子!Unit 4 We can save the animals 我们可以拯救这些动物Would you like to live in a world with no pandas, tigers or whales? These and many other animals are in danger. If we dont do something now, they may all disappear forever!One problem is that their homes are disappearing. People cut down the forests and pollute the oceans, so these animals have no place to live in. Also, many people buy things made from these animals, like medicines, fur coats and even foods.If you love the earth and love the animals, please do something about it. Never buy things made from animals in danger. Plant trees and dont pollute. If we all work together we can still save the animals.Unit 5 Dr Sun Yatsen 孙中山先生Ben: What are you reading, Xiaoling?本:你正在读什么,小玲?Xiaoling:A book about Dr Sun Yatsen.小玲:一本关于孙中山先生的书。Ben: Who is he ?本:他是谁?Jiamin: Hes a very famous and important person in Chinese history.嘉明:他在中国历史上是一位很著名很重要的人。Ben: Wow! Can you tell me something about him?本:哇哦!你可以告诉我一些关于他的故事吗?Jiamin: Yes. He was a great leader. He tried to free the Chinese people and make their lives better.嘉明:是的。他是一个伟大的领袖。他努力解放中国人民并让他们过得更好。Xiaoling: Yes. He loved the Chinese people and the Chinese people love him.小玲:是的。他热爱中国人民,中国人民也爱戴他。Jiamin: Thats right. Today many streets, schools and parks have his name.嘉明:是的。今天许多的街道、学校和公园都是以他的名字命名的。Ben : Wow, what a great man! 本:哇哦,多伟大的人啊!Unit 6 Steven Jobs 史蒂夫 乔布斯Do you love playing with Ipad or watching wonderful cartoon movies like toy story? If your answer is yes, you probably love Steve Jobs too. He made these things come true.你喜欢玩Ipad 或者看精彩的卡通电影,比如天使之城吗?如果你的答案是“是”。那么你可能也喜欢史蒂夫乔布斯。他使得这些东西成为现实。Steve was born in America on February 24th , 1955. When he finished school, he worked as a computer game-maker. But he quickly got bored. So in 1976 he and his friend started to build computers in their home. They called their company Apple Computers. People loved their computers and Steve made a lot of money.史蒂夫于1955年2月24日出生在美国。当他完成学业以后,他成为计算机游戏设计者。但是他很快对其变得无趣。于是在1976年,他和他的朋友在自家制作电脑。他们将他们得公司称之为苹果电脑。人们喜欢他们的电脑,史蒂夫由此赚了很多钱。But Steve left Apple in 1985 and started making cartoon movies. Once again he was very successful. In 1998 Steve sold his movie company and returned to Apple. After he returned, he turned Apple into worlds biggest company. They first made the Ipod, then iphone and later the ipad. People love these things very much.但是史蒂夫在1985年离开了苹果并开始制作卡通电影。他再一次获得巨大成功。在1998年,史蒂夫卖掉自己的电影公司,再次回到苹果。他回归以后,将苹果变成了世界上最大的公司。他们刚开始制作Ipod,之后又制作iphone 最后又是ipad. 人们很喜欢这些产品。When Steve Jobs died in 2011, the world lost a great man.当史蒂夫乔布斯在2011年与世长辞之时,世界又失去了一位伟人。Unit 7 Its the polite to do 这样做有礼貌Jiamin: Hey,Ben!what will you do if you see an old lady standing on the bus?嘉明:嘿,本!如果你看见公交车上站着一位老人你会怎么做?Ben: Thats easy. If she does not have a seat, I will give her my seat. Why?本;很简单。如果她没有座位坐,我会让出我的座位给她。为什么这么问?Jiamin: Well, today on bus, I stood up to give my seat to an old lady. But before I could say anything to her, a young man quickly sat down.嘉明:嗯,今天在公交车上,我站起来把我的座位让给一位老人。但是在我跟她说话之前,一个年轻人立马坐了下来。Ben: How impolite! We should always give our seat to people in need. Its the polite thing to do.本:真不礼貌!我们应该总是把座位让给有需要的人,这样做才礼貌。Xiaoling: Thats right. I dont like impolite people. Yesterday, as I waited in line at the supermarket, a girl tried to push in. She didnt even say “Excuse me”.小玲:是的。我不喜欢不礼貌的人。昨天,当我在超市派对的时候,一个女孩想挤进来。她甚至连“打扰一下”都没说。Janet: People should always wait for their turn. If the line is long, dont push in. Be patient!Unit 8 The magic words 魔法咒语Long ago, a little boy was walking through a park. In the middle of the park there was a tree with a sign on it. The sigh said,” I am a magic tree. Say the magic word and you will see.”很久以前,一个小男孩在公园散步。在公园中间有一棵树。树上写着标语:“我是一颗魔法树,说出魔法咒语你就会看到。”The boy tried to guess the magic words. He tried “open” “hurry” , and many more, but none of them worked.这个小男孩努力猜出魔法咒语。他尝试了“开门”“快点”以及更多,但没有一个生效。Tired and upset, the boy cried out, “This is too difficult. Please, dear tree!”小男孩又累又沮丧,他哭着说:“这太难了。拜托,亲爱的树!”Suddenly, a big door opened at the bottom of the tree. Inside everything was dark, except for a sign. The sign said, “Carry on with your magic.” Then the boy said, “Thank you, dear tree!” With this, the inside of the tree lit up brightly and showed a road. The road led to a room full of toys and chocolates.突然,树底下的大门大开。里面一片漆黑,除了一句标语。标语上说。“赐予你魔法。”之后,这个男孩说道:“谢谢你,亲爱的树!”因为这句话,大树里面突然灯火通明,并出现了一条路。这条路通向一个充满玩具和巧克力的房间。The little boy brought all his friends to the magic tree, and they had the best party ever. This is why people always say that “please” and “thank you” are the magic words.小男孩带着他所有的朋友来到魔法树,他们欢度了前所未有的美妙派对。这也是为什么人们常说“拜托”和“谢谢的原因,他们是魔法咒语。Unit 9 你会去哪儿?Mr White: If you can travel to any country in the world, where will you go?怀特小姐:如果你可以去世界的任何国家旅行,你会去哪儿?Ben: I think I will go to South Africa.
