湖南宁乡县2017高考英语一轮阅读理解训练(三)阅读理解。阅读下列短文, 从给的四个选项 (A、B、C和D) 中, 选出最佳选项。A survey of professors finds that most see online courses as inferior to in-class lessonsbut those who have taught online are more open to their potential. Larry Greenemeier reports The New York Times calls 2013“the year of the MOOC(网络开放课程). ”But lots of open online courses still fail to get high marks from most educators. In a recent survey of more than 2, 200 professors, only one in five thought that online courses could be as effective as classroom curricula(课程). Their biggest concern: limited interaction between teachers and students. The survey was done by Gallup and the website Inside Higher Ed. Respondents linked MOOC credibility to whether an online course was offered by an qualified school and to a students ability to receive credits. The doubt from the faculty of the schools isnt surprising. New technologies often turn those well-prepared products and services into goods without little excitement, something no teacher wants. On the other hand, refusing to change, especially when it involves computers, tends to be a losing strategy in most fields. One of the important points in the data is that much MOOC criticism comes from faculty whove never taught an online course. Of the 30 percent of professors polled(被投票的)who had taught a MOOC, most thought that online courses can deliver roughly the same results as the classroom ones. 1. She is the daughter of Chinese immigrants. In the Chinese culture, the tighter represents strength and power. In her book, Ms. Chua writes about how she demanded excellence from her daughters. Chua writes that her daughters, Sophia and Louisa, were never allowed to go on a date, be in a school play, watch TV or play computer games. They couldnt choose their own after-class activities or get any grade less than an A. They had to play piano or violin - and no other musical instruments. She writes that if a Chinese child gets a B - which she says would never happen - there would be a screaming, hair-tearing explosion. She describes making her 7-year-old daughter play a piano piece perfectly - yelling and not letting her leave the bench even to use the bathroom - until it was. Many people have criticized Amy Chua. Some say her parenting methods were abusive. She even admits that her husband, who is not Chinese, objected to her parenting style. But she says that was the way her parents raised her and her three sisters.Stacy Debroff, who has written four books on parenting, says Amy Chuas parenting style is not limited to Chinese families. She says it represents a traditional way of parenting among immigrants seeking a better future for their children. But she also sees a risk. When children have no time to be social or to follow their own interests, they might not develop other skills that they need to succeed in life. Stacy Debroff advises parents not to just repeat the way they were raised.Alison Lo, an assistant professor of marketing at the University of Washingtons Bothell campus, said. I dont think Amy is advocating a best practice of parenting style, or that success and achievements are critical yardsticks of a good life. But I can imagine how strong her daughters college applications are going to be. For many parents whose dreams are seeing their kids graduating from a competitive university, Amy is sharing with the readers that it is achievable by persistent, dedicated parental guidance, Lo said. In that sense, a young adults giftedness can be born, or made.41. We can learn that Amy Chua is _.A. an assistant professor B. an easy-going womanC. A cruel teacher D. A demanding mother42. What are Sophia and Louisa allowed to do?A. Getting an A minus B. Playing the guitarC. Dating with boys D. Playing the piano43. What do you know about Amy Chuas husband?A. He came from China B. They have been spectacularly successful and are widely imitated, if not copied. The minute Apple crystallizes a product, everyone knows how to competeThis idea that the basis of competition is set by Apple and then the race is on to climb the path of improvement is unquestionableWhen Apple releases a product that defines a category or dramatically changes the structure of an industry, it becomes obvious what needs to be built. But what I wonder is why everyone wants to copy Apples products but nobody wants to copy being Apple?I can think of two reasons. Firstly, Apple is not worth copying because its not successful; secondly, Apples success cannot be copied because it is a magical processThere is a great deal of evidence for the first hypothesis. The idea of Apple being successful is not something reflected in its stock priceBeing valued lower than the average company in the S&P(标准普尔)500 indicates that to whatever degree Apple was successful in the past, its not seen by the vast majority of observers as successful in the futureWhy should one bother copying Apple if it results in being punished with a low valuation? If one works really hard at innovation and then that innovation becomes commoditized(商品化)very quickly, why should one bother? When innovation practitioners are asked what makes Apple successful, the answers regarding the cause of this success border on the mythical. The climax of this hypothesis is the “chief-sorcerer” theory of success which places one magician, like Steve Jobs, in charge of casting all the right spells(符咒)What about Apples own opinion of what makes it tick? Tim Cook refers to a great team and integration of hardware, software and services as unique Apple advantages. Its a better explanationIntegration is something that can take a long time, but it is possible with great effortA few companies are starting to make moves in that direction, but efforts are half-heartedThere is no “move the Earth” panic to become an integrated company from Samsung, Google or MicrosoftMy own suspicion is that Apple is more aware of what makes it special than it lets out However, as Tim points out, its not a formulaIts complex, its subtle, but its not magicIts a process that requires a degree of faith and courage32When a new product of Apple comes out, often it _Aruins an industry dramaticallyBstarts a revolution of an industryCputs itself in an unbeatable positionDis soon overtaken by imitated products33According to the passage, other companies dont “copy being Apple” because _.A. Apple is not a successful companyB. they have no access to relevant resourcesC. Its hard to find a magician like Steve JobsDbeing Apple takes more than time and efforts34We can infer from Para. 5 that _Aother companies are dedicated to integrationBApple itself is fully aware of its unique advantagesCApple will hold the leading position in this industryDother companies dont have a great team as Apple does35What does the author think of Tim Cooks statement?AAcceptable BDisappointing CUnquestionable DConvincing【参考答案】BDCA 阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项。 【2014高考英语二模试题】 Iee Lok Sze was the first woman in Hong Kong to reach both the North and South PolesIn 1992 and1993,she went to Mount Everest and the Taldamkhan Desert in Xin- jiang“I wanted to be an adventurer when l was smallI have loved reading adventure books since I was a child”Since 1970,Miss Lee has always been on trips, travelling to different parts of the world with a backpack and a sleeping bag She said that these journeys changed her values“After visiting these places,I started to treasure my life much more than beforeDuring this time,I came to realize how small I am in the universe, but nothing in this world is unsolvableMiss Lee said she had a lot of unforgettable experiences on her journeysThere was one terrible storm at sea when she was returning from the South PoleThe whole team was happy to be returning home after a one-year stay at the South PoleDuring the storm, waves reached heights of up to 30 metersas high as a 10-story buildingShe stayed calm at the time and took steps to protect their research findingsShe hoped the rescuers would find them even if they lost their livesPart of the ship was destroyed and a lot of water came inLuckily they all survived, but she came away from the experience with a realiza- tion about the power of natureMiss Lee is also the founder of the China Polar Museum FoundationBuilding a polar museum has always been her dreamAccording to Miss Lee,the museum will use advanced technology to help develop scientists work in polar areasAlso,it will provide Places for scientists to do research41From the first paragraph we know Lee Lok Sze enjoys_.Aexploring remote unknown places Bvisiting popular places of interest Creading all kinds of books on scienceDtravelling with expensive equipment42What is the second paragraph mainly about?ALee Lok Szes great journeys BLee Lok Szes values on lifeCThe journeysinfluence on LeeDLees ideas of the universe.43Which of the following is true according to Paragraph 3?ALee Lok Sze travelled to the South Pole aloneBLee Lok Sze stayed at the South Pole for a monthCThe ship was completely destroyed in the stormDLee Lok Sze valued the research findings greatly.44Why did Lee found a polar museum?ATo attract more people to the Poles BTo promote studies of the Poles.CTo educate the public about the PolesDTo help protect the Poles.45Which would be the best title for the text?AFighting Against Nature BAttractions of the PolesCSurviving a Terrible Storm DA Brave and Noble Woman【参考答案】ACDBD 【2012浙江省宁波市八校联考】B阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项。Retracing one of the most important trading routes of ancient civilization, this remarkable tour aboard the luxury Golden Eagle and Shangri-La trains follows in the footsteps of such legendary figures as Alexander the Great and Marco Polo.Crossing both Russia and China as well as some of the remotest former Soviet republics-Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan- our journey will take in some of the most magnificent yet little-visited sights from the ancient world. We travel on to Volgograd-better known as Stalingrad-where the Soviets turned the course of the Second World War, before heading for far remoter places that own their importance to a time much further back in history. The Kara Kum desert is followed by the amazing 2,500 year-old cities of Khiva and Bukhara-considered so important by UNESCO that it supported their restoration-and then Samarkand, “the Rome of the East”. Much admired by Alexander the Great, Samarkand is home to Registan Square, a spectacular open space surrounded by beautiful Islamic buildings and considered o
