Unit 8 Is there a post office near here?Section A (1a-2c)Teaching Aims:1、Knowledge and Skills:(1) Students can understand and master words about places in English ,such as post, office, post office, police, police station, hotel, restaurant, bank, hospital, street, pay, near, across, across from, front, in front of, behind,Students can understand and master the following sentences: Is there a hospital near here? Yes, there is. The pay phone is across from the library. The pay phone is between the post office and the library.(2) Students will be able to use simple English to express how to ask and answer about places .2、Process and Methods :(1) Make full use of the tape player and pictures, creating scenarios to let students have the desire to participate in learning ,and guide students to actively participate in classroom activities, as the main body of teaching and learning.(2) Advocates the combination of autonomous learning and cooperative learning to improve the learning efficiency. (3) Help students to build their own English categories thesaurus to improve the efficiency of remembering new words.3、Emotion Attitude and Values:(1) Let students learn about places we often use in life, and know their functions. (2) Understand some English expressions of places (3) Cultivate the students competitive cooperation through competition and group work.Teaching Important and Difficult Points:1、Teaching Important Points:(1) Words about places: post office, police station, hotel, restaurant, bank, hospital, street, pay phone, park, and so on.(2) Sentences about how to ask and answer about places:-Is there a hospital near here? -Yes, there is. Its on Bridge Street. Excuse me , is there a police station near here ?No , there isnt. But There is a police station on Center Street .The pay phone is across from the library. The pay phone is between the post office and the library. 2、Teaching Difficult Points:How to ask and answer questions about places accurately.Teaching Methods:Presentation, integrate listening, reading, and dialogue into the classroom, and combinate the group cooperation learning method and task-based teaching method.Teaching Procedures:Step1、Greeting and lead-in Hello, everyone! I am very glad to be your teacher today. Im Miss Cao. Tell them the contents well learn today. Play a Brain storm game. Ask students to think of the words about places.Step2、Presentation(1)Show the pictures about places on the screen: post office, police station,hotel etc. Play a game Quick Eyes, help students to master the new words. Step3 Presentation(2)Show the students a picture of a boy. Say: This is Bob. He is in a new town .He is lost. Can you help him ?Help him to find places in the town, using “There is /are in the town.Ask students to practice the sentence structure and lead in “Is/Are there?Yes, there is/are. No, there isnt/arent.” Step 4 Pairwork(1c)Ask the students to look at the picture on P43 and practice the key sentences“There is /are Is/Are there? Yes, there is/are. No, there isnt/arent.”Step5 1a Match the words with the places in the picture.1.Let the students finish activity 1a and check the answers.2. Practice the wordsT: Lets check it. I read the alphabet and you tell me the name of the place it stands for in English ,Ok?3. Explain the language points in the picture:Bridge Street 大桥街 Center Street 中心街 Long Street 长街 on Bridge Street 在大桥街上Step 6 1b Listen and circle the places you hear in 1a.The teacher plays the recording and then ask one student to say his(her) answers. At last, check the answers.Step 7 Language points Conclude the use of There be sentences。 Then have the students to do some exercises.Step 8 Presentation.Look and review the words-in, on, under, next to,. Ask : Where is the ball /.? Its behind the box.Ask and answer like this.Step 9. Work on 2a and 2b; 1. 2a Match the sentences with the pictures. 2.
