摘要 本文以目的论( s k o p o s t h c o f i e ) 为理论基础，分析了哈利波特与魔法石 的汉译本。 长期以来，翻译理论和翻译实践都无法摆脱“忠实”或“等值”这一概念的 统治。译者或是在直译、意译的两难中徘徊，或是徒劳地企图同时做到直译和意 译。产生于二十世纪七十年代中后期的目的论是当代翻译理论发展史上一次具有 划时代意义的进步。目的论提出翻译是有目的的跨文化交际行为，而行为都有目 的，所以翻译要受目的的制约；译文好不好，要看它是否达到了预定的目的。目 的论有三个主要原则，即：目的原则、连贯原则和忠实原则。目的原则决定连贯 原则和忠实原则，而忠实原则又从属于连贯原则。目的论将翻译目的作为任何翻 译行动的最高原则，突破了直译和意译的牢笼。 本文采用描述性翻译学研究方法，以目的论为理论基础，通过描述和比较的 研究模式对译本进行了详尽的分析和说明。描述性翻译学研究方法是一种完整的 描述与阐释的分析模式，包括发现和验证两个阶段。本文通过对原文与译文例子 的对比分析，找出译文文本的特点和问题所在，这完全符合描述性翻译学发现和 验证的步骤。 作者首先叙述了目的论发展的历史进程，揭示了它的主要特征和三个主要原 则，并论述了它各阶段的特点和不足之处。然后作者又通过对原文和译文的分析， 总结了原文和译文在语言和修辞层面上的特点，并发现译文无论是在语言特点上 还是在修辞特点上者口惊人地与原文相似。那么译文在内容上与原文又是什么关系 呢? 所以紧接着，作者在目的原则、连贯原则和忠实原则的指导下，详细比对了 译文和原文的异同，发现译文在目的原则上除地域和文化的差别外，与原文的目 的都颇为相似，这也是为什么译文在语言和修辞上都与原文呈现出相似特点的原 因所在。译文在语内连贯即连贯原则上做得较为成功，但在语际连贯即忠实原则 上有不少错误之处。考虑到在目的论中，目的原则决定连贯原则和忠实原则，而 原文是一本畅销小说，译文的目的就是在“哈利热”的影响下，将哈利波特 与魔法石这本书引入中国，让中国读者了解这个故事，而且事实上译本的销量 也很可观，所以鉴于译文较好地达成了它的翻译目的，作者仍倾向于认为译本是 一个颇为“充分”的版本。
