摘要 本文试图对英汉两种语言中的预设现象进行对比研究，主要对于语义预设的 种类及其在两种语言中的表达形式和语用预设在两种语言中的差异进行分析。预 设问题首先是在哲学领域中被提出来的，随后进入语言学的研究领域。早期的研 究都把预设作为语义学的内容，认为预设是句子之间的关系，是与一定的语言表 层结构相联系的。但在上个世纪7 0 年代，随着研究的深入，人们发现预设还是 个语用概念。也就是说所谓的语义预设会随着语境而变化。语用学者认为，预设 是说话人的预设，与语言的使用密不可分。语言学家对预设的语用分析和理解各 不相同，但都涉及到两点特征，即合适性( a p p r o p r i a t e n e s s 或f e l i c i t y ) 和共知性 ( m u t u a lk n o w l e d g e ) 或共同性( c o m m o ng r o u n d ) 。作者倾向于从语义学角度把 预设界定为句子问的逻辑关系，是与一定的语言结构联系在一起的，同时承认预 设是可以被语境，包括语言语境和情境语境所取消的，它是一个语用概念，与一 种语言所处的文化母体密不可分。尽管语义学的方法不能解决预设的诸多复杂现 象，但对预设的分析不能抛开语义部分因为它是预设的一个基本问题。同时只有 从语用学的角度研究预设才能赋予预设以动态特征。在此基础上，本文对预设触 发语的种类及其表达形式，其它带有预设的语言形式和与文化相关的语用预设进 行英汉比较研究。 本文分为五章： 第一章简要介绍了国内外研究现状，研究目标和选题意义，研究方法，所用 理论以及论文的组织框架。预设是语用学的一个重要的话题。国内外语言学家对 预设现象做了大量的研究。但对英汉语中的预设现象进行对比分析的还很少。本 文在预设理论的基础上，对英汉两种语言中的预设触发语及其表现形式和语用预 设现象进行对比分析并得出结论。 第二章是关于预设的综述。首先回顾了有关预设的相关理论，包括哲学和语 言学等领域对预设的研究成果。语义学的观点认为，预设是句子之间的关系。早 期的研究证明，预设总是与一定的语言形式相联系。这些语言形式被称为预设触 发语。语言学家对语用预设的理解各不相同，但都涉及到两点特征，即合适性和 共知性或共同性。作者认为：预设既是一个语义概念又是个语用概念，可以理 解为交际双方所共有的背景知识，大致上说来是与一些语言形式( 预设触发语) 相联系的。对预设的研究不能只局限在一个方面。语义预设是语用预设的基础， 没有关于预设的语义研究，就谈不上其语用研究。语用预设又是语义预设的深化 与扩展。这是本文的理论出发点。 第三章是对预设触发语及其在英汉两种语言中的表现形式进行了对比分析。 在这一章旱，首先介绍了v e r s c h u e r e n 关于语言提供了很多传递隐含意义的规约化 的信号载体 c a r r i e r s 的观点。其中第一种类型就是带有预设的词语和结构。由 此可见，预设是与一定的语言表达形式相联系的。接下来的部分对作为预设基础 的词项或表层结构的预设触发语的种类及其表现形式进行了英汉对比分析，发现 其种类在两种语苦中大致相同，但表现形式存在一定的差异，这些差异表现在词 汇，语法和语义等各个层面。 第四章分析了语用预设在英汉语中的差异。从语用学的角度来观察预设，最 重要的是考虑预设的合适性( a p p r o p r i a t e n e s s 或f a c i l i t y ) 和共知性( m u t u a l k n o w l e d g e ) 或共同性( c o m m o ng r o u n d ) ，这是语用预设的两个特征。无论是合适 性还是共知性都是交际双方所共有的背景知识，这与不同语言所依赖的文化母体 密不可分。对语用预设的对比分析是按照文化的四个次系统，即经济技术，社会， 观念和语言系统展开的。其中每一系统中的每一因素都会导致不同语言中的不同 语用预设。这一部分的重点放在对与语言系统相关的预设的分析上。 第五章是论文的结论部分。通过对语义预设，语用预设理论的回顾总结以及对 预设在英汉两种语言中的表现形式及语用预设的差异进行对比分析，得出如下结 论：预设既是语义概念又是语用概念，前者是后者的基础，后者是前者的深入和 发展。对预设的研究不能只局限于一个方面而否定另一方面。语义预设是由一定 v i 的预设触发语相联系的。这些预设触发语的种类在英汉两种语言大致相同，这是
