QC/T 585-1999Foreword Use of this standard is equivalent to that of ISO 8720 standard Technical Specifications for the Mechanical Jacks Used on Cars. Currently, there is still no national standard and industry standard available for the mechanical jacks used on cars. As rapid development of automobile industry in China, we hereby adopt a standard equivalent to ISO 8720 standard to adapt to the demands in international trade and technical and economic exchange and standardize the product quality of the homemade jacks used on cars. In accordance with the specifications in Article 4.2.3.3 of GB/T1.1-1993, the foreword of ISO 8720 standard is reserved and some new content is added to it. This standard is proposed by State Bureau of Machine Building Industry. This standard is under the administration of National Automotive Standardization Technical Committee. Drafting unit of this standard: Shanghai Baoshan Jack General Factory Co., Ltd. Main drafters of this standard: Zeng Jinli, Zhao Hong. National Automotive Standardization Technical Committee is responsible for interpretation of this standard.QC/T 585-1999ISO Foreword ISO (international organization for standardization) is a world-wide association consisting of the standards institutes of various countries (ISO member entities). Preparation of international standardsThe job is generally undertaken by ISO technical committees. When every member entities is interested in a certain subject for which a technical committee has been established, it is entitled to send representatives to take part in the committee. All official or unofficial international organizations associated with ISO can also participate in this job. In all respects of electrotechnical standards, ISO and IEC are closely cooperating. After an international standard draft is adopted by the technical committee, it must be given out to all member entities for approval. It must obtain 75% over approval votes from the member entities before release. The ISO 8720 is proposed by Road Vehicles Technical Committee, i.e. ISO/TC 22, SC 14 Technical Committee. Automobile Industry Standard of the Peoples Republic of China-Technical Specifications for the Mechanical Jacks Used on CarsQC/T 585-19991 Scope This standard specifies the technical specifications for safety control when using the drivers tool for car (defined in GB/T 3730.1)-mechanical jack to replace tires and install non-skid chains. 2. Reference standards After referenced, the articles in the following standards constitute those of this standard. At release of this standard, all versions shown are active and all standards will be revised. All parties using this standard shall discuss the feasibility of using the current versions of the following standards. ISO 3833:1977 GB/T 3730.1-1988Motor Vehicles and Semi Trailers-Types-Terms and Definitions GB/T 3730.2-1996Road Vehicle-Masses-Vocabulary and Codes3 General requirements3.1 The safe operation instructions for the jack should be contained in the operation manual of the vehicle manufacturer. 3.2 The jack must fit the size of the jacking support point specified by the vehicle manufacturer. It can be normally handled with all doors closed without damaging any part on the vehicle. 3.3 The measures to prevent the jack from over stroke are required. 4 Delivery At delivery, anti-corrosion protection measures must be available on its surface and the moving parts should be properly lubricated. During use, there should be no surplus material and burrs, particles and sharp edges that may cause injury on any external surface. 5. Operating requirements5.1 Dimensions To ensure that the size of the jack supplied with the vehicle is appropriate, the following requirements must be met: Park the vehicle on a level cement pavement or equivalent, put the jack accurately on the support point under the severe conditions that the tires are not inflated, jack up the vehicle off the ground to leave enough space between the ground and the tire for replacement with spare tire. The spare tire must be charged to its maximum rated pressure. 5.2 Operating physical force After the jack operations described in Article 5.1 are completed, the applied force should not exceed the following: CAIEC Approval on 08-09-1999 implementment on 01-01-2001 -For a jack using a lever to fluctuate, the operating physical force is 360N.QC/T 585-1999 -For the jacks of other types, the operating physical force is 120N.5.3 Self locking performanceWhen using the jack to lift or lower the vehicle, the jack mechanism should self lock at any point in the full stroke after the operating physical force is released. 6. Stability6.1 In case of the situation of the vehicle described in Article 5.1, jack up to the upper limit specified in Article 7 at each support points in turn, apply a 250N longitudinal static force along front and rear directions in turn respectively on the center line of the vehicle with a ground clearance of 44 cm, and then apply a 250N lateral static force at center of the tire along left and right directions in turn respectively, during which the vehicle can not escape from the jack. 6.2 Park the vehicle reaching the maximum total design mass as specified in Article 5.1 on a surface with a longitudinal grade of (81) % and a lateral grade of (5.50.5) % (all other conditions for the vehicle are set by the manufacturer). Follow the operating steps for the jack described in Article 5.1: conduct a upslope test to the vehicle first and then a downslope one, during which the vehicle should not escape from the top of the jack. 7 Durability Note: during this testing, the instructions of the manufacturing plant are required. For a new jack and handle, conduct 24 up and down stable support cycles at the support point in accordance with the rules described in Article 5.
