Pope is one of the fore-most satirists in orld literature as ell as a great poet. He rote itty po

2、lished verses ridiculing the behavior of his day. Popes mock-heroic poem The Rape of the Lock is one of the finest examples of English ic verse. He made his name as a great poet ith the publication of An Essay on Criticism in 1711. His Dunciad is a scathing attack on dullness pedantry in literature.

In this ork, he reflected the neo-classical spirit of the times by advocating good taste, mon sense the adherence to classical rules in
