2、m what youve read. It provides a brief, overall view to correlate and rearrange ideas. The purpose of an outline is to help you think through your topic carefully and organize it logically before you start writing. A good outline is the most important step in writing a good paper.,An outline is:,A l

3、ogical, general description A schematic summary An organizational pattern A visual and conceptual design of your writing An outline reflects logical thinking and clear classification,2.Why do we need an outline before writing a paper,General: a. Aids in the process of writing Specific: a. Helps you

4、organize your ideas b. Presents your material in a logical form c. Shows the relationships among ideas in your writing d. Constructs an ordered overview of your writing e. Defines boundaries and groups,3. Four Main Components for Effective Outline,(1)Parallelism - How do I accomplish this? Each head

5、ing and subheading should preserve parallel structure. If the first heading is a verb, the second heading should be a verb. Example: Choose Desired Colleges Prepare Application (Choose and Prepare are both verbs. The present tense of the verb is usually the preferred form for an outline),(2) Coordin

6、ation - How do I accomplish this?,All the information contained in Heading 1. should have the same significance as the information contained in Heading 2. The same goes for the subheadings (which should be less significant than the headings).,(3) Subordination - How do I accomplish this?,The informa

7、tion in the headings should be more general, while the information in the subheadings should be more specific. Example:.Describe an influential person in your life A. Form of an Outline,The most important rule for outlining form is to be consistent! An outline can use topic or sentence structure, or

9、paragraph .,A topic outline uses words or phrases for all entries and uses no punctuation after entries.Advantages: presents a brief overview of work and is generally easier and faster to write than a sentence outline.,A sentence outline uses complete sentences for all entries and uses correct punct

The thesis statement will be your guide throughout the process of writing your essay. From the thesis statement, you can begin wri

The topic sentences need to agree with the

IV.Body Paragraph #3: Topic Sentence: By preparing some thoughtful questions for the end of the interview, you can show the panel that you have prepared for the interview and want the job. A. Research the job and/or

35、company before you go to the interview. B. The interview is your opportunity to get to know your potential employer. Ask questions about company goals, mission, expectations of employees, etc. C. Dont ask questions about benefits or salary during the interview. You should try to get this information

36、 before you apply for the job.
