takingtodeterminetheirownfutures.

Ourdatashowsnosinglechallenge

isdominatingtheattentionoftalent

leaders;rather,theyarecopingwitha

myriadofdevelopments.Asyouknow

first-hand,thecurrentclimateof

economic,politicalandsocialdisruptionrequiresyoutocreateandsustain

valueforyourinternalcustomersatatimewhenbudgetsarefinite.Atthesametime,manyorganizationsare

transforming,complicatingeffortstofulfilltalentambitions.

Whilesomeofthetop-reported

challengesof2025havepersistedover

thelastdecade,newprioritieshavealsoemerged.Examiningtop-reported

challenges,38%ofsurveyrespondents

sayinflationnegativelyaffectedtheir

organizationorisoneoftheirbiggest

painpoints(slightlydown,however,from40%lastyear).Economicuncertainty,

whichhasbeenatopconcernforthepastthreeyears,remainsso,with

33%believingitweighsnegativelyon

theirbusiness.Similarly,32%citetalentscarcityorskillsshortagesasa

hindrance;achallengethathasbeenatthetopofemployers’concerns

consistentlyoverthelastdecade.

Ontheotherhand,surveyrespondents

areenthusiasticaboutbigdevelopmentsintheworldofwork.Most(82%)

positivelyregardtheproliferationofHR

technology,AI,automationandrobotics;79%feelthiswayaboutthedigitalizationofHR.Whilesomearepullingbackfromtheirequityandinclusioninitiatives,78%saythey’vehadapositiveimpactontheirbusiness.Alargemajorityarealso

excitedabouttheirtalentretention

strategies(77%),embeddingacoachingculture(77%)andinternalmobility(75%).

Painpointsshownherearebasedonthetopsixreportedchallengesfor2025.While“inflation,”“economicuncertainty,”“geopoliticaluncertainty,”and“layoffs”responseoptionswereaddedtothesurveyinthe2023research,“talentscarcity”and

“talentleavingtheworkforce”remaintopconcernsforemployersevenstill.

Factorsshownherearebasedonthetopsixreportedfactorsfor2025.Whilemostof

thesefactorshavebeenaddedasresponseoptionsoverthecourseofour10-yearstudy,the“digitalizationofHR”hasconsistentlymadeapositiveimpactforemployers.

Thepastyearhasbeenunusually

challenging,possiblythemostdifficultsincethestartofthepandemic.Budgetconstraints,businessdemandformorevalueandrisingeconomicuncertaintyarepressuringtalentleaderstobecomemoreinnovativeandagile.Frommy

interactionswithCHROs,it’samandatetheyareeffectivelydeliveringon.

Ourdatashowstheyarefocusedon

workforceagility,integratingAIto

optimizeplanning,andprioritizingdataandmarketintelligenceasinvestments.Withoutquestion,theseeffortswill

becriticaltosuccessbothintimesofgrowthandperiodsofdecline.

Now,morethaneverinthehistoryof

ourTalentTrendsresearch,talentleadersbelievetheworkthey’redoingis

preparingtheirorganizationsforthe

future(90%).Thesamenumber(90%)reporttheyseektohaveameasurableimpactonbusinessperformance.
