:Sleep

Sleetispartofapersonsdailyactivitycycle.Thereareseveral

:Bacteria

Bacteriaareextremelysmalllivingthings.Whilewemeasureour

ownsizesininchesorcentimeters,bacterialsizeismeasuredin

microns.Onemicronisathousandthofamillimeter:apinheadis

aboutamillimeteracross.Rod-shapedbacteriaareusuallyfromtwo

tofourmicronslong,whileroundedonesaregenerallyonemicron

bacteriaarebarelyvisibleastinyrodsordots.Onecannotmake

outanythingoftheirstructure.Usingspecialstains,onecansee

thatsomebacteriahaveattachedtothemwavy-looking"hairs"called

flagella.Othershaveonlyoneflagellum.Theflagellarotate,

pushingthebacteriathroughthewater.Manybacterialackflagella

andcannotmoveaboutbytheirownpower,whileotherscanglide

alongoversurfacesbysomelittle-understoodmechanism.

Fromthebacteriapointofview,theworldisaverydifferent

placefromwhatitistohumans.Toabacteriumwaterisasthick

asmolassesistous.Bacteriaaresosmallthattheyareinfluenced

bythemovementsofthechemicalmoleculesaroundthem.Bacteria

underthemicroscope,eventhosewithnoflagella,oftenbounce

aboutinthewater.Thisisbecausetheycollidewiththewatery

moleculesandarepushedthiswayandthat.Moleculesmovesorapidly

thatwithinatenthofasecondthemoleculesaroundabacteriahave

:TwoAttitudesTowardPart-timeJobs

Somepeolpethinktherearemoreadvantagesforcollegesstudents

totakepart-timejobsthandisadvantages,othersdontthinkso.

Whatsyourviewonthis?Andtellwhy.

Aseriousproblemhasariseninrecentseveralyearsthatmore

andmorecollegestudentsabandonstudybecauseoftheirtaking

part-timejobs,soquiteafewpeopleareopposedtopart-timejobs.

However,takingpart-timejobshasatleastthreebenefitsfor

collegestudensinmyeyes.

First,studentscanpromotetheirstudythroughpart-timejobs.

Forinstance,Ifalawstudentfindsapart-timejobinalawfirm,

hispracticewillenablehimtobetterunderstandwhatheslearned

frombooks.Whatsmore,thepart-timejobcanofferhim

opportunitiestogobeyondwhathesbeentaughtinclass,andhell

learnsomethingthatdoesntexistinbooksbutinpractice.

Second,studentscanalsoaccumulateworkexperiencesthrough

part-timejobs,whichwillbenefittheirfuturejob-hunting.

Actually,part-timejobsactaswarm-upexercisesforstudentsto

takefull-timejobsaftertheygraduate,andhelpthempreparefor

theirfuturecareers.Inaddition,asfreshbloodinthesociety,

graduatedstudentsareoftenunfavoredinjob-huntingmarketsfor

lackofpracticalworkexperiences.Itseasiertofindjobsforthose

whohaveaccumulatedexperiencesinpart-timejobs.

Lastbutnottheleast,part-timejobscanpartlyrelievestudents

financialburden,especiallythosewhoarefrompoorfamilies.

Collegetutionfeeshavegreatlyincreasedinthepasttenyears

duetotheneweducationalpolicy.Manystudentsfrompoorfamilies

cannotaffordcollegefees,andourbanksystemfailtoloancollege

studentsaseffectivelyasitdoesindevelopedcountries,sotaking

part-timejobsbecomesawayforthemtomeettheirgreatexpenses

incampuslives.

Itsanundeniedfactthatstudentsbreakthebalancebetweentheir

jobsandstudies,especiallywhentheyfallintoconflictwitheach

other.ButIthinkstudentsshouldspendtheirsparetimetaking

part-timejobs.Onlyfollowingthisprinciplecantheybenefitfrom

theirpart-timejobs.

:CellsandTemperature

Cellscannotremainaliveoutsidecertainlimitsoftemperature

andmuchnarrowerlimitsmarktheboundariesofeffective

functioning.Enzymesystemsofmammalsandbirdsaremostefficient

becameevidentthatthisclassificationwasinadequate.Afence

lizardoradesertiguana-eachcold-blooded---usuallyhasabody

temperatureonlyadegreeortwobelowthatofhumansandsoisnot

cold.Thereforethenextdistinctionwasmadebetweenanimalsthat

maintainaconstantbodytemperature,calledhomeOtherms,andthose

whosebodytemperaturevarieswiththeirenvironments,called

poikilotherms.Butthisclassificationalsoprovedinadequate,

becauseamongmammalstherearemanythatvarytheirbody,

temperaturesduringhibernation.Furthermore,manyinvertebrates

thatliveinthedepthsoftheoceanneverexperiencechangeinthe

depthsoftheoceanneverexperiencechangeinthechillofthedeep

water,andtheirbodytemperaturesremainconstant.
