airflowconditionsincutting-edgefacilities.Here,moreenergy-efficientenginesarebeingdevelopedthatpavethe
wayforsafeandefficienthydrogenflightforheavy-dutyvehicles.
Heatexchangersareavitalpartofhydrogenflight,andtheyareakeypartofthetechnologicaladvancestaking
place.Tokeepthefuelsystemslightweight,thehydrogenneedstobeinliquidform.Thismeansthatthehydrogenis
keptsupercoolintheaircraft,typicallyaround-250degreesCelsius.Byrecoveringheatfromthehotexhaustsofthe
jetengines,andbycoolingtheenginesinstrategiclocationstheybecomemoreefficient.Totransfertheheatbetween
thesupercoolhydrogenandtheengine,noveltypesofheatexchangersareneeded.
