儿童健康

1993年,全世界5岁以下儿童的死亡数量超过了一千二百二十万,相当于挪

威和瑞典两国的总人口之和。而其中在发展中国家死亡的儿童如果能享受与发达

国家儿童一样的医疗条件和社会福利,那么发展中国家的儿童是可以远离死亡

的。发达国家与发展中国家之间的差距就婴幼儿生存率这件事来说,完全可以看

成是对健康不公平对待的列子之一。

据估计全世界在1993年,5岁以下儿童的死亡率约为87%»,比较与1980年的

115%。和1950-1955年间的215%。还是有明显的下降。虽然在一些发达国家5岁以

下儿童的死亡率仅有6%。,然而在一些发达国家中的其中16个国家5岁以下儿

童的死亡率却高达200%。,并且其中有一个国家竟高达320%。.

婴儿死亡率:1岁以下婴幼儿的死亡率从4.8%。到161%。不等,各国之间的差

距足有33倍不等。1960-1993年间发达国家与发展中国家婴幼儿死亡率之间的

差距缩小了50%,死亡率从113%。缩小到54%。.但是与此同时,最不发达国家与

发展中国家之间的差距正在扩大。

实际上,营养不良导致了儿童疾病与死亡,但这种原因却不被认可。1990年,

5岁以下儿童中,30%体重不达标。在发展中国家43%的儿童,大约23亿,身高

不达标。据估计微量营养素缺乏和营养不良至少影响各年龄层的20亿人口的身
