hometosomeofthemostchallengingterrainsforterrestrialnetworks.Asaresult,therehashistoricallybeensignificantinterestinaerialsolutionsandtheopportunitytheyoffertohelpextendconnectivitytohard-to-reachlocations.ThisinteresthasbeenheightenedbytheemergenceoflowEarthorbit(LEO)andhigh-altitudeplatformstation(HAPS)solutions.Importantly,telecomsoperatorsacrosstheregionareactivelyengagedintheevolvingaerialconnectivitymarket,mostlythroughpartnershipsandinvestments.OperatorsacrossAsiaPacificareharnessingthepowerofgenerativeAI(genAI)todriveinternaltransformationsandseizenewrevenuestreamsthroughAIinvestment.GenAIhasapplicationsinvariousdomains–suchascustomerservice,sales,marketingandcodedevelopment–offeringimmediateopportunities.Moreover,leveragingAIfornetworkenhancementremainsapriorityforoperators.Exploringnewrevenuestreams,regionaloperatorsareinvestinginAIstartupsandorganisationswhiledevelopingtheirownlargelanguagemodels(LLMs).TailoredLLMsmakeiteasierforoperatorstodeployhigh-qualitygenAImodelsswiftlyandefficiently,helpingthemtoaccelerateAI-enabledtransformation.Consumertrust:stakeholderstakestepstoenhanceonlinesafetyWiththeriseofonlinethreatstargetingindividualsandenterprises,thereisariskthatconsumertrustindigitalserviceswillerode.Meanwhile,theproliferationofadvancedAItools,notablygenAIapplications,addsanewdimensiontothethreatlandscapebypotentiallyenablingnewtypesofattacksandmakingexistingoneshardertodetect.Suchattackscanhaveaprofoundimpactonvictims,includingfinanciallossesandamentaltoll,resultinginalossoftrustindigitalplatforms.Whilegovernmentsanddigitalecosystemplayershavetakenstepstocombatonlinethreats,thetaskofmaintainingtrustmustbeviewedasasharedresponsibilitybetweenthesestakeholders,asopposedtothesoleresponsibilityofanysinglegroup.ThetaskofmaintainingtrustmustbeviewedasasharedresponsibilitybetweengovernmentsanddigitalecosystemplayersExecutivesummary4/50PoliciesforgrowthandinnovationForthemobileindustrytoadvanceanddeliverondigitaltransformationambitions,thepolicyandregulatoryenvironmentrequiresanapproachthatsupportsaconduciveenvironmentforrapidgrowthandinnovation.Policiesthatwillhaveakeyroletowardsthisobjectiveincludethosethatpromoteinvestmentinnetworks,reducetaxationburdens,promoteeaseofdoingbusinessbyreducingonerouscompliancecosts,improveefficiency,andfosterinclusivityandonlinetrustandsafety.Similarly,asdemandforhigh-speed,TheITU’sWorldRadiocommunicationConference2023(WRC-23)openedthedoorstoaneweraofconnectivityandlaidthespectrumfoundationsformobiletoprogressinto5G-Advancedand6G.Importantly,WRC-23identified6GHz(6.425–7.125GHz)formobileusebycountriesineveryITURegion(EMEA,CIS,theAmericasandAsiaPacific)andtheconditionsforitsusehavebeenagreedintheITU’sRadioRegulations.CountriesinAsiaPacificcannowtakeadvantageoftheharmonisationof6GHzthatwasachievedathigh-qualitymobileconnectivitycontinuestogrow,WRC-23andbegindevelopingnationalplanstoregulatorsandpolicymakersshouldreviewcurrentpoliciestoidentifythosethatcreateunnecessaryassigntheband.With6GHz,mobileoperatorscanmeetthegrowthin5Gtrafficdemandinabarriersformobileoperators,hinderingtheirabilitypractical,cost-effectiveandenvironmentallytoinvestwithoutnecessarilyhavinganypositiveimpactonconsumerwelfare.friendlywayusingexisting5Gmacrosites.Executivesummary5/50TheMobileEconomyAsiaPacificUniqueMobileinternetusersmobilesubscribers1.8bn1.4bn20232030202363%
