entrepreneurialorsmallbusinessesthataresodifficulttodealwith

andsodifferentfromthechallengesfacedbymanagementinbigbusinesses.

Inpartthisisbecausethoseinvolvedingatheringexpertiseabout

businessesandinsellingadvicetobusinesseshavehistoricallybeenmore

interestedintheneedsofbigbusiness.Inpart,intheUKatleast,it

isalsobecausesmallbusinesseshavealwayspreferredtoadaptto

changingcircumstances.

Theorganizationalproblemsofentrepreneurialorsmallbusinesses

arethusforcedupontheindividualswholeadthem.Evenmoresothanfor

biggerbusinesses,theoldsayingistrue-thatpeople,particularly

thosewhomaketheimportantdecisions,arebusiness,mostimportantasset.

Theresearchthatdoesexistshowsthatneithermoneynortheabilityto

accessmoreofitisthemajorfactordetermininggrowth.Themainreason

anentrepreneurialbusinessstopsgrowingisthelackofmanagementand

leadershipresourceavailabletothebusinesswhenitmatters.Givean

entrepreneuranexperienced,skilledteamandheorshewillfindthefunds

everytime.Gettingtheteam,though,isthedifficultbit.Partofthe

problemforentrepreneursisthespeedofchangethataffectstheir

businesses.Theyhavetocopewithcontinuouschangeyethavealwaysbeen
