传统的计算机英语教学在学习计算机的硬件设备时，教师通常在黑板上写出计算机硬件的中英文名称，如鼠标mouse、键盘keyboard、显示器monitor等等。而在对计算机内部的硬件进行介绍的时候，学生没有见过实物，很难确切的了解。学生知道芯片是chip，却没有具体的感觉，当我们将拆开的旧电脑展示给学生看时，他们就很容易地将所学单词对应到相应的硬件上去了。学生通过重复的记忆确实能记住这些单词，但是当我们把学生带到计算机房，让他们坐到电脑旁边，能看到所有的硬件设备，再用英语列出每一个硬件的名称时，无论是课堂气氛，还是教学效果，都是绝对不一样的。
