Thenewwingconsistsofasystemoftiny,strong,lightweightmodules
(模块).Theshapeofthewingcanbechangeduniformlyalongitslength
usingtwosmallmotors,whichapplyatwistingpressuretoeachwingtip.
Thesewingsarecoveredin"skins"ofoverlappingstripsofflexiblematerial
likefishscales.Thesestripsmoveacrosseachotherasthewingschange
themselves,providingasmoothoutersurface,theresearchersexplained.
Wind-tunneltestsofthesewingsshowedthattheyatleastmatchedthe
