INTRODUCTION

Background

TheEuropeanUnionChamberofCommerceinChina(EuropeanChamber)wasfoundedby51membercompanieson19thOctober2000.TherationaleforestablishingtheEuropeanChamberwasbasedontheneedoftheEuropeanUnion(EU)andEuropeanbusinessesto

findacommonvoiceacrossthevariousbusinesssectorsthroughoutChina.

TheEuropeanChamberhasgrowntomorethan1,700membercompaniesandoperatesfromsevenchaptersacrossninecities:Beijing,Nanjing,SouthChina(GuangzhouandShenzhen),Shanghai,Shenyang,SouthwestChina(ChengduandChongqing)andTianjin.

TheEuropeanChamberisrecognisedbytheEuropeanCommissionandtheChineseauthoritiesastheofficialvoiceofEuropean

businessesinChina.
