Introduction:

Thisreportoutlinesthedesignofanewpumpstationforamunicipalwastewatertreatmentplant.Theobjectiveofthisdesignistoensureeffectivepumpingandtransportofwastewaterfromthetreatmentplanttothedischargelocation.

DesignBasis:

1.WetWell:Thewetwellwillbe40feetdeepandhaveadiameterof35feet,providing50%redundancytomeetoperationalneeds.Thewetwellwillbemadeofconcretereinforcedwithsteel.

2.Pumps:Thepumpdesignwillincludefoursubmersiblenon-clogpumps,eachwitha5-MGDcapacity.

3.Piping:Thepipingsystemwillcomprise36-inchductileirondischargepiping,42-inchductileironsuctionpiping,and48-inchstainless-steelinfluentpiping.

4.Electrical:Electricalcontrolsandinstrumentationwillbestate-of-the-artandmeetthespecificationsofthelocalelectricalcodes.Abackupgeneratorwillbeinstalledtoensurecontinuousoperationduringpoweroutages.

5.Building:Apumpstationbuildingwillbeconstructedtohousethepumps,motors,andotherelectricalequipment.Thebuildingwillbemadeofdurablematerialsanddesignedtoaccommodatenecessarystoragespaceandaccessformaintenancepersonnel.
