each

indentations

than

these

are

Consistency

in

use

is,

however,

the

most

importantpoint.Blocked

styleIts

outstanding

featureis:the

commencement

of

all

typing

lines,

including

thosefor

the

date,

inside

name

and

address,

salutation,subject

heading

and

complimentary

close,

at

the

left-hand

margin.The

loss

of

clarity

occasioned

by

the

absence

ofindentations

may

be

made

good

by

increasing

thenumber

of

separating

line-spacing

between

paragraphsfrom

two

to

on

side

maycause

inconvenience

when

particular

letters

are

the

files.Because

of

this,

some

firms

using

blocked

style

oflayout

prefer

a

date

position

on

line-spacing

gives

a

letter

an

appearance

ofcompactness

and

is

usual

for

both

long

and

shortletters,

though

double

line-spacing

is

preferred

by

very
