ThisspecificationdefinesgeneralprovisionaswellasinspectionstandardsforLCDmodulesuppliedbyWAYING(HongKong)SharesLimited.

Iftheeventofunforeseenproblemorunspecifieditemsmayoccur,pleasecontactthenearestsupplierorourcompany.

Warranty

Moduleproductsmanufacturedtothisspecificationwillbecapableofmeetingallthecharacteristicsforaminimumperiodof12months,whichcalculatesfromthedateofshippingfromWAYING(HongKong)SharesLimited.During.which,lessthan2%ofthemodulesmayfail(parametersoutofspecifications)underthespecifiedconditions.Alltheproductsshouldbestoredorusedasspecifiedconditionsdescribedinthesesheets.

Ifmoduleproductsarenotstoredorusedasspecifiedconditions,herein,itwillbevoidthe12monthswarranty.UsefullifeofLCDwillbemorethan100,000hoursunderanycombinationofoperatingandstorageduration.

RECAUTIONFORUSINGLCM

LiquidCrystaldisplay(LCD)

LCDismadeupofglass,organicsealant,organicfluid,andpolymerbasedpolarizers.Thefollowingprecautionsshouldbetakenwhenhanding:

Keepthetemperaturewithinrangeofuseandstorage.Excessivetemperatureandhumiditycouldcausepolarizationdegredation,polarizerpeelofforbubble.

DonotcontacttheexposedpolarizerswithanythingharderthananHBpencillead.

Tocleandustoffthedisplaysurface.Wipegentlywithcotton.,Chamoisorothersoftmaterialsoakedinpetroleumbenzin.Ifthedisplaysurfacebecomescontaminated,breatheonthesurfaceandgentlywipeitwithasoftdrycloth.Ifitisheavilycontaminated,moistenclothwithoneofthefollowingsolvents:

Isopropylalcohol

Ethylalcohol

Solventsotherthanthoseabove-mentionedmaydamagethepolarizer.Especially,donotusethefollowing.

Water

Ketone

Aromaticsolvents

Wipeoffsalivaorwaterdropsimmediately.Contactwithwateroveralongperiodoftimemaycausepolarizerdeformationorcolorfading,whileanactiveLCDwithwatercondensationonitssurfacewillcausecorrosionofITOelectrodes.

Glasscanbeeasilychippedorcrackedfromroughhanding.especiallyatcornersandedges.

DonotdriveLCDwithDCvoltage.

Mechnicalconsiderations

LCMareassembledandadjustedwithahighdegreeofprecision.Avoidexcessiveshocksanddonotmakeanyalterationsormodifications.Thefollowingshouldbenoted.

Donottamperinanywaywiththetabsonthetabsonthemetalframe.

DonotmodifythePCBbydrillingextraholes,changingitsoutline,movingitscomponentsormodifyingitspattem.

Donottouchtheelastomerconnector,especiallyinsertanbacklightpanel(forexample,EL).

WhenmountingaLCMmakesurethatthePCBisnotunderanytresssuchasbendingortwisting.Elastomercontactsareverydelicateandmissingpixelscouldresultfromslightdislocationofanyoftheelements.

Avoidpressingonthemetalbezel,otherwisetheelastomerconnectorcouldbedeformedandlosecontact,resultinginmissingpiels.

StaticElectricity

LCMcontainsCMOSLSI’sandthesameprecautionforsuchdevicesshouldapply,namely

Theoperatorshouldbegroundedwheneverhe/shecomesintocontactwiththemodule.NevertouchanyoftheconductivepartssuchastheLSIpads,thecopperleadsonthePCBandtheinterfaceterminalswithanypartsofthehumanbody.

Themodulesshouldbekeptinantistaticbagsorothercontainersresistanttostaticforstorage.

Onlyproperlygroundedsolderingironsshouldbeused.

WhenusinganelectricscrewdrivertoattachLCM,thescrewdrivershouldbeofgroundpotentialitytominimizeasmuchaspossibleanytransmissionofelectromagneticwavesproducedsparkscomingfromthecommutatorofthemotor.

Thenormalstaticpreventionmeasuresshouldbeobservedforworkclothesandworkingbenches;forthelatterconductive(rubber)matisrecommended.

Toreducethegenerationofstaticelectricitybecarefulthattheairintheworkisnottoodried.Arelativehumidityof50%-60%isrecommended.

.(7)TheLCDmoduleiscoatedwithafilmtoprotectthedisplaysurface.Exercisecarewhenpeelingoffthisprotectivefilmsincestaticelectricitymaybegenerated.

Soldering

Observethefollowingwhensolderingleadwire,connectorcableandetc.totheLCM.

Solderingirontemperature:260C–10C.

Solderingtime:3-4sec.

Solder:eutecticsolder.

Ifsolderingfluxisused,besuretoremoveanyremainingfluxafterfinishingtosolderingoperation.(Thisdoesnotapplyinthecaseofanon-halogentypeofflux.)ItisrecommendedthatyouprotecttheLCDsurfacewithacoverduringsolderingtopreventanydamagedurtofluxspatters.

WhensolderingtheelectroluminescentpanelandPCboard,thepanelandboardshouldnotbedetachedmorethanthreetimes.Thismaximumnumberisdeterminedbythetemperatureandtimeconditionsmentionedabove,thoughtheremaybesomevariancedependingonthetemperatureofthesolderingiron.

WhenremovetheelectoluminescentpanelfromthePCboard,besurethesolderhascompletelymelted,thesolderedpadonthePCboardcouldbedamaged.

SolderingironisnotallowedtotouchthesurfaceofFPC’scoverfilmdirectly.

Operation

Viewinganglevarieswiththechangeofliquidcrystaldrivingvoltage(V0).AdjustV0toshowthebestcontrast.

Drivingvoltageshouldbekeptwithinspecifiedrange;excessvoltageshortensdisplaylife.

Responsetimeisgreatlydelayedattemperaturebelowtheoperatingtemperaturerange.However,thisdoesnotmeantheLCDwillbeoutoftheorder.Itwillrecoverwhenitreturnstothespecifiedtemperaturerange.

Displaymayturnblackordarkblueattemperaturesaboveitsoperationalrange;thisis(howevernotpressingontheviewingarea)maycausethesegmentstoappear“fractured”.

Ifthedisplayareaispushedhardduringoperation,thedisplaywillbecomeabnormal.However,itwillreturntonormalifitisturnedoffandthenbackon.

Whenturningthepoweron,inputeachsignalafterthepositive/negativevoltagebecomesstable.

InstallingLCDModules

TheholeintheprintedcircuitboardisusedtofixLCMasshowninthepicturebelow.AttendtothefollowingitemswheninstallingtheLCM.

CoverthesurfacewithatransparentprotectiveplatetoprotectthepolarizerandLCcell.

WhenassemblingtheLCMintootherequipment,thespacertothebitbetweentheLCMandthefittingplateshouldhaveenoughheighttoavoidcausingstresstothemodulesurface,refertotheindividualspecificationsformeasurements.Themeasurementtoleranceshouldbe–0.1mm.

SinceLCMhasbeenassembledandadjustedwithahighdegreeofprecision,avoidapplying

excessiveshockstothemoduleormakinganyalterationsormodificationstoit.

Donotalter,modifyorchangetheshapeofthetabonthemetalframe.

Donotmakeextraholesontheprintedcircuitboard,modifyitsshapeorchangethepositionsofcomponentstobeattached.

Donotdamageormodifythepatternwritingontheprintedcircuitboard.

Absolutelydonotmodifythezebrarubberstrip(conductiverubber)orheatsealconnector.

Exceptforsolderingtheinterface,donotmakeanyalterationsormodificationswithasolderingiron.

Donotdrop,bendortwistLCM.

InordertoavoidthecrackingoftheFPC,youshouldtopayattentiontotheareaofFPC(R50mm)wheretheFPCwasbent.theedgeofcoverlay;theareaofsurfaceofNi-Auplating,theareaofsolderingland,theareaofthroughhole.

StoragePrecautions

WhenstoringtheLCDmodules,avoidexposuretodirectsunlightortothelightoffluorescentlamps.

Thepolarizersurfaceshouldnotcomeincontactwithanyotherobjects.Keepthemodulesinbags.Wheneverpossible,theLCDmodulesshouldbestoredinthesameconditionsinwhichthe
